The Baobab trees (also known as an upside down bottles or monkey bread trees) are believed to be the largest succulents in the world as well as some of the tallest trees. There are several different species that vary somewhat in appearance, but all are deciduous, flowering trees that can live for hundreds and even thousands of years. They are slow-growing trees that are indigenous to Madagascar, Africa and Australia. They can grow up to 70 feet tall and feature an over-sized, extremely wide caudex that the plant utilizes for water storage during the dry season. The bark is brown and gray and typically smooth, though it can crack and bend as the tree ages. Leaves are elongated and appear in clusters of up to seven leaflets. During the winter the plant sheds its leaves only to grow them again in the springtime and summer. ■ Cyprus bailout to raid large deposits, massive austerity looms. Cyprus has managed to reach a last-minute deal with its creditors on a 10-billion euro bailout, crucial to prevent the country from bankruptcy. The rescue package, however, comes at a steep price - deposits above a 100,000 euros in the country's two largest banks will be raided with up to 40% tax. RT's Tesa Arcilla reporting from Nicosia.

Depositors in the Bank of Cyprus, the biggest bank on the island, will reportedly lose from 30 to 40 per cent on their holdings above 100,000 euro as result of a bailout agreement which Cyprus and the troika of international backers signed on Monday. John Laughland, the director of studies at the Institute of democracy and cooperation in Paris, believes that the developments in Cyprus share their roots with a number of historic revolutions.

Even then, capital flows will be temporarily restricted. The last-ditch bailout deal may be hailed as a relief by the government and the EU, but it's certainly no comfort for people struggling to withdraw their money, as RT's Tesa Arcilla reports from Nicosia.
