News Headlines (542) 1 October - 31 October 2015

ONLINE TODAY

1 October 2015 : You may look forward to taking some time off today, but might end up much busier than you ever expected. It's tempting to lazily kick back in the morning, but you could pay a hefty price if you fall behind on your work. Procrastination doesn't do you any favors now; turn your day around by working hard first and then pursuing your own interests once the Moon shifts into versatile Gemini. Life is less stressful when you keep your priorities straight.

2 October 2015 : You're cosmically disposed to be a pioneer, bravely exploring unknown territories and eagerly pursuing the rush of doing things for the first time. Today's fidgety Gemini Moon prompts you to pile on even more activities to your already hectic schedule just for the thrill of it. Although you may thrive on blasting off in several different directions at once, narrowing your focus and concentrating on one challenge at a time now enables you to be even more productive in the future.

3 October 2015 : The rhythm of your own drumbeat is so loud today that you can't resist dancing to it, following the sound wherever it leads. Happily, your insatiable curiosity is running wild as it uncovers exciting discoveries. Although you aspire to be practical in your approach now, you naturally overextend your energy when given the opportunity. Thankfully, you can improve your chances for success by taking your goals more seriously. Eliminating unnecessary distractions flips the odds in your favor.

4 October 2015 : Although you can slow down and enjoy the scenery today -- an unusual occurrence for you fast-moving Aries -- you still may resist easing up on the gas pedal. However, you have been racing at high speed for a while and could be in danger of exhausting your fuel if you don't stop running now. Take time to replenish your resources and recharge your batteries while you have the opportunity. After a short break from the mayhem, you will be ready to fire on all cylinders when the light turns green.

5 October 2015 : Expressing feelings that you might normally keep to yourself could destabilize a significant relationship today. Your inclination is to jump right in because you are all fired up about a particular issue-- even though you will likely encounter an icy reception from your audience. Tread carefully because your outburst may be motivated by fear instead of by love. Focus on what must be said now and save the rest for another day once your emotions have returned to normal. You can be a formidable force for good if you wield your words wisely.

6 October 2015 : Your life path may grow even more convoluted if you are struggling to establish your place in a significant relationship. It seems like whatever you choose to do seems to go against the grain now. You're not purposefully trying to be difficult or rebellious; you simply want to be true to your heart. Don't let anyone talk you out of following your instincts. Trusting your inner voice today will lead you in the right direction as long as you don't let your pride stand in the way.

7 October 2015 : Your key planet Mars is engaged in a cosmic tug of war with otherworldly Neptune, spinning you into a parallel universe before you know it. You might even slip on an imaginary banana peel, leaving you dazed and wondering if you should even bother getting up now. Remember, you are a fearless warrior; you're not going to take this disruption without fighting back. Stand up, dust your bruised ego off, and make a new plan that will leave everyone shaking their heads in amazement. Conquer the enemy within, and you will be a winner for life.

8 October 2015 : You believe you know exactly what you want in the love department today, but your desires are not as clear as you think. You tend to idealize your attractions now, which can be a lot of fun as long as you don't try to connect them directly to reality. In fact, too many concrete expectations hinder your current journey. However, going with the flow may reward you with a lovely experience that has long-lasting consequences. Follow your heart and see who you encounter along the way.

9 October 2015 : Lowering your defenses isn't all that easy because people may seem verbally aggressive for no reason today. Conversations might get stuck in the middle of nowhere while messenger Mercury stops to turn direct in your 7th House of Relationships. However, your heightened sensitivity might provoke you to misinterpret someone's friendly advice as criticism of your position. Don't take everything so personally; being more flexible in your thinking will help lighten your load. If you can't say something nice in return, don't say anything at all.

10 October 2015 : Although you may think you're at a turning point today, it's really more of a readjustment to your regular routine. No matter which way you go, you could run into a roadblock that prevents you from continuing in the same direction. But it's not necessary to abruptly change course; instead, shift your internal radio to a mellower station. Try not to be so demanding now. Pushing less can make everyone happier, including yourself. Magic happens when you're busy appreciating the music you hear at this very moment.

11 October 2015 : A friend or coworker appears to have all the answers today, even if you aren't asking any questions. Although it's wonderful to receive help when you need it, too much meddling is bothersome, especially if others act like they know more about your life than you do. Nevertheless, blowing your cool won't improve the situation. Instead, acknowledge everyone's good intentions while gently informing them that you'll request assistance on an as-needed basis. Establishing your independence is instrumental to your happiness.

12 October 2015 : You are ready to let go of your personal agenda now that the even-tempered Libra New Moon falls in your 7th House of Partnerships. Paradoxically, the likelihood of receiving support for your impetuous behavior increases when you distance yourself from others. Nevertheless, you could end up frustrated if you believe that you can happily exist in your dreamworld alone. Thankfully, finding ways to express yourself without going to extremes brings emotional satisfaction, but it just might arrive in a different package than you expected.

13 October 2015 : You aren't willing to give up your freedom, even in a trade for a less stressful path in life. However, you might choose being responsible today over being independent -- although you may not be happy with your decision. Unfortunately, clinging to your annoyance can create serious problems. Expressing your negativity and then letting it go enables you to avoid feeling resentment later on. Living an ordinary life in an extraordinary manner inspires you to reach spiritual satisfaction.

14 October 2015 : You might be convinced that someone is manipulating reality now, trying to involve you in the very same emotional drama that you're doing your best to avoid. But your feelings are already aroused and it's more challenging to shut them off after they have been stirred. You may not be able to prevent an interaction from turning stormy today, but everyone will feel better once the whole story is out in the open. Applying equal measures of honesty and kindness cultivates peace and harmony.

15 October 2015 : Achieving your career objectives or finding your life's purpose grows more crucial now as your ambitions intensify. You may even turn obsessive, fearful that you might miss your chance if you don't drive yourself as relentlessly as possible today. Unfortunately, it's possible to ride roughshod over people if you are only focused on your own goals. Thankfully, practicing a touch of diplomacy enables you to be more effective than you ever thought possible. Your heart connections enrich your life in ways your work never can.

16 October 2015 : The more facts you have at your disposal today, the more you realize that you don't really know what someone else is feeling. Although you may be inclined to jump to premature conclusions now, the longer you can sit with your uncertainty, the better your chances for creating a meaningful connection. Instead of pushing for resolution on a relationship issue, surrender your need for control. The mysteries of love are enchanting when you're willing to open your heart and let Cupid play his part.

17 October 2015 : Cleaning house (literally or figuratively) makes perfect sense today while energetic Mars joins visionary Jupiter in your 6th House of Details. You have a crystal clear idea of what you want to accomplish and possess the stamina to get things done now. However, you must take a big job and break it down into smaller manageable pieces in order to be efficient. Don't bite off more than you can chew or you'll be tired at the end of the day with little to show for your exemplary efforts. Making a sustainable plan sets you up for success.

18 October 2015 : Relationships hold great potential now, but only if you remember that you're seeing everything through a subjective filter. Distinguishing your dreams from the actual events in your life may be more complicated than you realize today. You don't have the whole picture yet, so don't make any promises you will regret later. Ask questions and listen closely to the answers, but don't miss the unspoken messages in between the words. Making a commitment is wise only after you have a solid grip on the current dynamics.

19 October 2015 : You have a lot of chores to finish today and your responsible attitude carries over past normal business hours. Your current priority is to demonstrate your efficiency to others, so list all your tasks and stay focused until you make a serious dent in your work. Channel your stress into action by striving to tie up any loose ends now. Don't delay because your reservoir of energy could dissipate later in the week. Your willingness to put in overtime shows your commitment to getting the job done.

20 October 2015 : You may breathe a sigh of relief today because it seems like recent tensions are beginning to subside. Although there are positive signs that make you smile, you won't likely get the full resolution you seek. You're not in an optimal position to make significant progress but, at least, you're growing more confident about the future. There's nothing to be gained by being overly ambitious now; just hold your ground and wait for a clear signal before moving forward. Timing is everything.

21 October 2015 : A recent event may have unexpectedly triggered emotions that influence what you expect from your friends. However, something is brewing today that isn't obvious, and in the typical style of the Ram you just charge headlong into the situation without even stopping to think. Luckily, a sudden change of plans could lead to a win-win outcome if you can place the greater good of the community ahead of your own personal needs. Your quickest path to success is found by making others happy now.

22 October 2015 : Nothing is to be gained by letting your anger distract you from what you need to say today. Even if your discomfort seems to be approaching a flash point, you don't have to automatically throw a burning match into the emotional tinder. The current situation is crazy enough without you adding to the volatility. Bite your tongue, take a few deep breaths and put on a happy face. Then, state your case as gently as possible. Remaining calm, cool and collected enables you to deliver your message with the greatest impact.

23 October 2015 : It's a wizardly day, overflowing with the potential of magic. However, you must be willing to surrender to unseen forces if you want to benefit from this cosmic collaboration. Your spells and enchantments can cook up an intense emotional feast, but it may prove impossible to control the menu once you begin. The real power is found when you set aside your original recipe and follow your intuition. Dance with the unknown and you will not fail to impress even the most cynical of your critics.

24 October 2015 : You may try to hide from the spotlight today because you feel like you have more freedom if you are not in plain view. It's not that you are afraid of being seen; it's just you're uncertain about your direction now and you want enough time to contemplate your options before others start chiming in with their opinions. Unfortunately, the feedback you receive from even well-meaning friends could pull you off course. Resist the urge to spill the beans for another day or two so you can develop your ideas on your own. Your independent nature and enterprising spirit serve you well.

25 October 2015 : Cosmic light bulbs flash, illuminating your mind today, and you are eager to share your brilliant new ideas with anyone who will listen. You're wired for action and may be quite pleased with your own ingenuity. Unfortunately, you have an attention span of a kitten; you will likely lose interest in what you're doing before you gain traction. But don't worry if nothing comes to fruition now; your current thoughts will continue to evolve into something even better. Inspiration is alive and magic is afoot.

26 October 2015 : You may be accustomed to the repetitive waves of energy that periodically surge through your life these days. But the Moon's current visit to your sign is another reminder of the big changes looming everywhere you turn. You are experiencing a bit of a cosmic roller-coaster ride today and could be easily overwhelmed by your emotions. Opening your heart to a friend might make you feel uncomfortable at first, but will ultimately calm your nerves and help you reestablish your center. Everyone needs someone to lean on sometimes.

27 October 2015 : You are acutely aware of what is missing from a significant relationship today. Nevertheless, you may still feel pretty calm and confident as the steadfast Taurus Full Moon sheds her light in your 2nd House of Self-Esteem. However, you could also feel the thrilling spark of inspiration by discovering a simple solution to a complex problem. But don't assume you can make your dreams come true just because you are committed to taking a practical approach now. You must express what's in your heart if you want others to join in the dance.

28 October 2015 : Although everything will likely fit into place, you still must rely on your own initiative if you are driven to finish what you start. Your day may begin slowly, yet like a surfer, you must paddle faster to catch the big wave. Oddly enough, it might be better now for you to just let this one wash over you and not show off with any fancy tricks. Surrender the fight and relax; instead of relentlessly pursuing your goals, kick back and just enjoy floating in the deep blue sea today. Appreciate the view while you have the chance.

29 October 2015 : Although you might think you fixed a problem at work, your confidence doesn't mean you actually found resolution in the real world. You may incorrectly assume that changing your attitude is enough to alleviate the current stress, but there are still many more improvements to make now. However, you won't be able to move forward until you admit that there is an important lesson to learn. Once you acknowledge you don't have all the answers, opportunities will start to materialize everywhere you look. Humility is your friend.

30 October 2015 : Everything is quite simple as long as you don't allow the facts to stand in the way of having fun. The problem is that fantasy continues to rule your world now, even though the truth usually wins out in the end. Luckily, if you can imagine something today, you might actually be able to think it into existence. Nevertheless, cooperating with reality instead of avoiding it makes the road ahead easier to navigate. Taking life a little more seriously leads you down the right path.

31 October 2015 : You are receiving mixed cosmic signals about how much to share with others while the sensitive Cancer Moon visits your private 4th House of Home and Family today. This confusing message is challenging because you would like to have your feelings acknowledged by those closest to you. Nevertheless, you also want to avoid unnecessarily placing yourself in a vulnerable position now. There's no need to feel overly anxious about whatever you decide to do, for your uncertainty will likely pass by tomorrow. In the meantime, channel your angst into your art.

While attitudes are gradually changing in Turkey, awareness of blindness tends to lag behind awareness and understanding of disability in some other parts of the world. In Seeing Isn't Everything four blind people living in Istanbul talk about how they are all too often defined through their disability and want to challenge social perceptions about what it means to live without sight. One of them is Burcak Souoglu who lost her sight aged four. She is now a single mother after her husband left her with two children. She works on the switchboard at Marmara University. She lacks confidence out on the often frenetic streets of Istanbul - but as a devoted mother derives immense satisfaction from raising her two children.Burcak's younger sister, Gamze, has five percent of her sight. "I can distinguish big objects…and also the main colours… When you're a teenager you take your physical appearance very seriously…but you don't know what you look like," she says. Still Gamze, like the other three characters in this film, exudes positivity."Gaining pleasure from something isn't always related to seeing. Seeing isn't everything." All four of them talk about their personal strategies for leading full lives and challenging perceptions about the blind, particularly in Turkey.

News Headlines (539) 16 July - 31 July 2015

ONLINE TODAY

16 July 2015 :You're waiting for someone to say the wrong word today so you can pounce on them in defense of your position. You're probably unaware of your true motives; you're not even conscious of how intense you sound now. Although you are more bark than bite, people still might take your intensity at face value. There's little to gain by protecting your boundaries from imaginary enemies. Lowering your voice and letting others speak is a simple yet straightforward way to realign the tense dynamics. Take a deep breath and count to ten before you act in anger.

17 July 2015 : You might receive a rude awakening if you think your past accomplishments will be enough to let you slide by without having to do much real work today. It's true that wishful thinking can be a very effective tool for self-motivation but, unfortunately, your current confidence isn't necessarily based on reality. Creating a best-case scenario in your imagination won't automatically improve your life. Instead of resting on your laurels, visualize the potential at stake now and invest the sweat equity required to make something special happen. You reap what you sow.

18 July 2015 : You thrive on the unpredictable nature of the day as mischievous Mercury spars with unorthodox Uranus. Your love of spontaneity works well with the current uncertainty since circumstances can suddenly shift without warning. Thankfully, an electric burst of energy could send shockwaves through your romantic life that start your heart rocking and rolling again. Don't let pride stand in your way. Tell others exactly what you want today; you have no idea what magic is possible unless you try.

19 July 2015 : Your Sunday routine may not include going to church, but it's a perfect day to reconnect with your spiritual path in a way that resonates with your heart. Fortunately, you won't necessarily have to go anywhere special if you take time for your own brand of worship today. Prayer comes in many shapes and sizes; you don't have to fit your practices into anyone else's religious box. As the renowned theologian Matthew Fox said, "It doesn't matter where you dig the well. You reach the same water."

20 July 2015 : Sorry, Aries, you need to save your daydreaming for the night since concentrating on your work needs to be your top priority today. Spacey Neptune is like a fly in your ointment, captivating you with fascinating visions that have no practical use in the present moment. Even if you wish you could extend your weekend, it's prudent to get an early start and finish your tasks before others have a reason to complain. You might grumble a bit at first, but you will be much happier later on if you're free to pursue your dreams without worrying about chores left undone.

21 July 2015 : You're willing to work extra hard today in order to solidify your recent progress. Nevertheless, it's nearly impossible to completely override your natural tendency to rush into action. However, your impatience could jeopardize all that you have gained. Maintain a methodical pace and execute the proper follow-through to reach your goals. You don't have to gamble with your future now if you plan your course of action without expecting to change everything all at once. It may be a bitter pill to swallow at first, but sometimes slow and steady wins the race.

22 July 2015 : You might try a more cautious approach to sharing your feelings today, but you could be stressing over the wrong things. Instead of wasting time trying to guess how others will react to your emotional disclosure, just let the cards fall where they may. Your impatience can interfere with whatever stability you have already gained. But even if you feel stuck with no clear direction, there's no need to force progress now. Relationship dynamics will make more sense soon enough if you can relax your expectations and enjoy the present moment.

23 July 2015 : Expressing yourself honestly grows more complicated when you're concerned about protecting someone else's feelings. You're bursting at the seams today; your creativity is like a fireworks display that commands attention. You've been waiting for this moment and you want to put on a show that everyone will remember. Although you're running on sheer adrenaline and pure inspiration, you may still experience a bit of stage fright. Thankfully, your courage will outweigh any last-minute doubts. Take a few deep breaths and shine like the star you are.

24 July 2015 : You prefer to be in full control of your fate, but you could easily spend more time responding to external situations today than manifesting your own events. You depend on people for their well-honed skills and the resources they bring to the table, but they also expect certain things in return from you. Fortunately, creating your own personal destiny is still possible as long as you take the needs of others into consideration in the process. Developing compassion enables you to maximize your potential in ways you never imagined.

25 July 2015 : Your outrageous actions might be shocking today as revolutionary Uranus electrifies your key planet Mars. But you could lose your credibility if you rattle the cage at home just to generate a reaction. Your creative energy is irrepressible and you're willing to push the envelope, but something or someone may be blocking your inner artist from running free. If change needs to occur now, then your radical behavior is worth the ensuing drama it provokes. But if you're just looking for an adrenaline rush, hold onto your horses because the risk won't be worth the reward.

26 July 2015 : No matter how serious your intentions are today, it's too soon to say whether or not you'll be successful at getting much accomplished. You can be quite the convincing salesperson now, but you may be as good at fooling yourself as you are at misleading others. If someone accepts your over-the-top expectations as the truth, you might have to face the music when the facts are discovered. A wiser approach is to be completely realistic now so you don't have to backtrack and revise your story later. Full disclosure is the best policy.

27 July 2015 : You're on a roll, talking up a storm with everyone you meet. Your enthusiasm is stimulated by your lofty visions of the future as the fiery Sagittarius Moon inspires you to aim for the stars. Unfortunately, you could easily overextend your reach, lose your balance and fall off your unicorn. It's not easy to gain mastery of your own energy when you're so passionate about life, but it's certainly worth the effort. It's amazing what magic you can create with a little fairy dust and the right attitude.

28 July 2015 : You may be so jazzed about a new project that you're off and running today, even if you don't have a plan in place yet. However, your exhilaration won't last long unless you develop a sensible strategy. A reassessment of your resources is the first step to getting your dreams off the ground. Luckily, you can remain idealistic now without losing your footing. However, balancing your optimism with realism is not enough; once you have your angle figured out, you must also initiate action and be willing to follow through on whatever you start.

29 July 2015 : There is so much emotional noise today, it's nearly impossible to process all that's going on. You might not be very receptive to conflicting messages because you are afraid of being sidetracked by someone else's agenda. Meanwhile, you're defending your right to maintain your individuality because you're on your own mission. Nevertheless, there isn't as much at stake as you think, so pick your battles carefully before you find yourself in the middle of an unnecessary argument. Take the high road and strike out on your own.

30 July 2015 : You can push boundaries without even realizing it when you are keyed up about something new. However, today's enthusiasm might be a bit misdirected as assertive Mars is misaligned with delusional Neptune. The problem is your favorite idea may not be as brilliant as you think. Don't be so cocky that you stubbornly try to defend an incorrect assumption or an unrealistic goal. Be patient and review your plans one more time; haste makes waste.

31 July 2015 : You want to shout your opinions from the rooftop today as the Aquarius Full Moon lights up your 11th House of Networking. But you're not too concerned about what anyone else thinks now because you're sure that your perspective is the right one. Although your plan might work out just fine, your words still could sound more aggressive than you actually feel. Garner support by toning down your message and acknowledging the validity of alternate approaches. Create an environment where everyone can be a winner, not just you.

I remember our first meeting, in front of a bookstore in a very posh mall in your city. I saw the announcement on the Internet. There was a book launch. You became a speaker at the event. I was so blind and hated this city. That afternoon, I ventured to come alone. I wanted to meet you. Shortly after the event was over, I bought your poetry book which had just been published. Not just because I really wanted it, but I hopes that it could be a reason to be able to talk to you. Really, I was very nervous at that time. I stood in the corner, saw you serving people who were asking for your autograph and took pictures with you. I did not bring a camera. I didn't have it, the exactly thing was. I waited until the remaining one person who asked for an autograph, then I came to you. My hands trembled when thrusting your book to be signed. You asked me, while you stared at my face. "To whom?"

When I mentioned my real name, you looked surprised and turned to hug me. I was more surprised and more nervous. You said you had read some of my poems in newspapers and you loved it. At that time you made time and asked me to talk about poetry, also invited me to stay in your home. The first meeting on a beautiful afternoon, dahling. Our second meeting was when you and I were both invited to read a poem, also a poet of France in the same group. We read poetry and recorded by two video cameras. I was the last. You were the first. Nights later, along with several poets from other countries, we often met. I got a turn to read poetry on the third night, you were on the last night. I was nervous reading poetry in front of you. I remembered, one of the poems you read was poetry that I mentioned in my letter. I carried a camera at that time. I borrowed my friend's camera. I had some of your pictures. After that event, we met several times. I was happy to talk more things at the time. I fell in love with your simplicity and your familiarity, even to people who were just learning to write poetry, like me. Thank you, dahling.

I once wrote a poem inspired by your poetry. About the shadow of an old man in one afternoon. He walked with shadows in one evening, asking in doubt, " Do I make the shadow or the shadow shorten me?" It was a four-line bad poem. Forgive me, dahling. Thank you for continuing to write a lot of poetry to the world and our life. I learn a lot of your poems. Take care of your health. Best regards - Your partner.

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY :  This past spring I spent more time chasing storms on the plains than ever before. The most I had spent prior to this was seven total days and that was last year. What I came away with from that short time made me realize that if I could double that...the stuff I could capture would be amazing. Of course I long to be out there for a month or longer, but when you live in Phoenix and have a wife and three kids...you have to be realistic.

I turned 40 years old this year and I told my wife all I wanted was 10 days chasing on the plains. She loves me though and it ended up being 14! Two days in April and then 12 straight days from May 23rd - June 3rd. Those 12 days were absolutely incredible. I'm friends with other chasers via social media, met them on the side of roads while chasing, even grabbed dinner together...but never have I felt more of a part of the chaser community than being out there for almost two weeks. Living the life...seeing the same amazing chasers over and over...it was overwhelming to me. I missed my family, it was hard at times, but it was one of the best experiences of my life.

Both chases originated from where I live in Arizona. In April I drove out all night to Colorado, slept maybe an hour, chased all day, got a good night's sleep, chased the next day in the Texas panhandle and drove home that same night, stopping only for a quick nap in New Mexico. The second chase was the same. Left Phoenix late on the evening of May 22nd, never really slept and the chase was on the next day. All in all I drove well over 12,000 miles over the course of those two weeks, visited 10 total states (New Mexico, Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota) and shot over 45,000 frames of footage for this film.

I have many people to thank. Pat O'Brien for being my first private tour attendee this spring. Mike Mezeul II for one very big tip on a spot above Rapid City, SD. To James Langford who not only guided me to that spot over the phone, but "now-casted" for me many, many times. I may have missed out on four crucial clips in this film if it wasn't for him suggesting I punch the core in South Dakota. Thank you sir. And to my pal Andy Hoeland...who was with me for over a week of my time out there, driving, looking at forecasts, talking to weather experts and always helping us have a great target for that day. He's become my chase partner for most of these big plains trips and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Also thanks to Cinetics for sending me their Axis 360 to play with. I used it one time in this film and wish I had used it more. I love that scene.

Finally...above everyone else, of course...is my wife. To let me go for that long, to never complain, to never discourage me...but to only believe in me...how could I be so lucky to deserve a wife like that? We have three kids and that's tough on a parent to have her husband away that long. It will never cease to amaze me that I would not be here, doing this, if it wasn't for her support and encouragement.

Technical details...everything was shot on Canon 5D3's, along with an array of Rokinon lenses. I got sick of lens-twisting (mostly of FORGETTING to lens twist) so I mainly used those manual lenses on this trip. Everything was processed using LR Timelapse, Lightroom, After Effects and Premiere Pro.

I'm in absolute love with this film. The stuff I saw rivaled anything I've ever seen on the plains minus that insane Booker supercell in 2013. We saw four tornadoes (one of them appears in a deleted scene at the very end of the film), countless supercells, gorgeous shelf clouds, stunning mammatus and some awesome lightning shows. The song..well, the song for this film blew my mind. I loved it when I heard it, but then seeing how everything started coming together on the timeline, the pace, the slow build-up, the huge ending...I've said it before, but the song is 50% of the film. Thank you again Kerry for everything!

All this movie does it fuel me to want to do better next year and this summer in Arizona. Stay tuned for Monsoon II and for The Chase II next spring!

I sincerely hope you enjoy and share this film around. Thank you! Published on Jul 22, 2015 by Mike Olbinski

"Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life." ─ Omar Khayyam

There's poignancy behind the elegance of Taj Mahal. Taj Mahal was built by Mughal's empire under the reign of Shah Jahan as a mausoleum in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died while giving birth. Jeweled building was completed in about 1647 and its location in Agra city is a monument which was then considered to be the most impressive example of Mughal architecture. This mausoleum also has survived the invasion of Jat people as well as British colonial during the Indian Mutiny in 1857. Then Taj Mahal restored and fitted with scaffolding so that it was protected from bomb attacks in World War II. Many theories have recently claimed that Taj was designed not as a symbol of deep feelings of love, but rather as a map on the interpretation of Judgment Day by Sufi version, mysticism in Islam. Taj Mahal building also can't be separated from the family feud, since shortly after the construction was completed, Shah Jahan was deposed and imprisoned by his own son, but the son finally completed his devotion as a child to bury his father beside Mumtaz. The beauty of the Taj Mahal requires 22 years to be completed. During that time, the construction was done by no less than 20,000 people and 1,000 elephants. The magnificent dome nearly 200 feet tall is actually a dome in the dome, sphere of outer frame is larger than the inside. Therefore, if the exterior dome visible from the inside, its symmetry will look imperfect. Taj's peak designed with a shape like a lotus flower. Ornate sarcophagus on display for visitors to the Taj Mahal is actually empty. And the original tomb placed in the basement, hidden. Taj can be visited after dark, on a full moon night and two days before and afterward. On Fridays and during Ramadan, the mausoleum is closed. Indian poet, Rabindranath Tagore, described the Taj Mahal as a "teardrop on the face of time". However, the Taj is now facing the most dangerous threat: environmental degradation. Taj Mahal stands on the edge of Yamuna river which dries slowly. The shrinking of Yamuna river's water level accelerates the wood decay that supporting its structure, so that it is feared can collapse at any time.

"Thank you for your perception! I like your romantic side, even if I do not always comment and I'm glad that you're in my circle of friends."
(Courtesies by: Wolfgang A. Gerhardt)

Wolfgang A.Gerhardt : May be you like this Sunday collage

Cisca Zarmansyah : Before today, there never was a person doing this to me. You create a simple matter to look special. This is a special thing for me.

Cisca Zarmansyah : Thank you. I love it. I love you, my friend.

CieL- FreYa Ceastle : Hmm, he's so nice...

"I am me.
In all the world,
there is no one else exactly like me.
Everything that comes out of me
is authentically mine,
because I alone chose it --
I own everything about me:
my body,
my feelings,
my mouth,
my voice,
all my actions,
whether they be to others or myself.
I own my fantasies,
my dreams,
my hopes,
my fears.
I own my triumphs and successes,
all my failures and mistakes.
Because I own all of me,
I can become intimately acquainted with me.
By so doing,
I can love me
and be friendly with all my parts.
I know there are aspects about myself that puzzle me,
and other aspects that I do not know
-- but as long as I am friendly
and loving to myself,
I can courageously and hopefully
look for solutions
to the puzzles and ways
to find out more about me.
However I look and sound,
whatever I say and do,
and whatever I think and feel at a given moment in time
is authentically me.
If later some parts of how I looked,
sounded,
thought,
and felt
turn out to be unfitting,
I can discard that which is unfitting,
keep the rest,
and invent something new
for that which I discarded.
I can see,
hear,
feel,
think,
say, and do.
I have the tools to survive,
to be close to others,
to be productive,
and to make sense
and order out of the world of people
and things outside of me.
I own me,
and therefore,
I can engineer me.
I am me,
and I am okay."
