Manatee body can reach lengths of up to 4.5 meters or more, and they live in freshwater and saltwater. Manatee had been hunted for meat and oil, but they are now officially protected.

Although they have no natural predators, but human territorial expansion has reduced their natural habitat in coastal wetlands, and many Manatee are injured by boat propeller motor. Manatee often swallow fishing gear (hooks, weights, etc) while grazing. These inclusions do not seem to harm Manatee, except for a single filament yarn or string.
