Cisca Zarmansyah : ...I think it's just a tradition. If you are a Christian who already know the real meaning of Christmas, then you don't need to follow the action as Christian groups in America, opposed the secularization of Christmas by people who aren't Christians but want to celebrate it. Anyway, Christmas is widely known by people around the world. In Japan, the non-Christians also celebrate it with a feast at night and drunk till the morning. Malaysia is a Muslim country, but in this country Christmas is also celebrated by some Muslims. A large and high Christmas tree is displayed at every shopping mall. Even my Muslim friend who lives there also put up a Christmas tree in December just because she likes to decorate it... ehehehe...
... China is a communist country, but in China, Christmas is also the marketing tools. All the shops are decorated by Christmas baubles.

In US (2008), there was a conservative Christian group numbering about 700 people marched to call for Christian to boycott the retail store "Target", because it had put an ad with no mention of "Christmas", but "Holiday Season". This activity was directly read carefully by "Wal Mart" which still used the word of "Christmas". Because of this pressure, "Target" then eventually also used "Christmas" in their advertising, and this news even beneficial to both of them.
CieL- FreYa Ceastle : Let's examine, what is on people's mind (who are not Christians) when they want to celebrate Christmas? Would not it be associated with such a special moment to celebrate, make the party, have a special meeting on that special day with friends, family, relatives, siblings, etc? So, if "Christmas" is never replaced with "Holiday Season", the meaning of Christmas for them will never be associated with Christ. Perhaps they feel that December 25 isn't the copyright of Christian exclusively. And they'll celebrate in their own way and don't base it on Christianity basics, because they really just want to "celebrate" it, no frills about Christ. Beside that, the people's attention in celebrating "Holiday Season" isn't just on December 25, but also to welcome the new year /January 1st.

In the context of population censuses as an order for tax withdrawal, for... a trip in which "all persons enrolled each in their own city" (Luke 2:3) was approximately equal to emergency, displacement and evictions. Thus, Jesus gave the horizontal meaning of Christmas for his followers by presenting the love for suffering people who were suffering. Now, maybe they are the lonely people in refugee, the oppressed people who are worried and anxious, the displaced residents with no place to live, and the poor result of colonialism, as well as the marginalized group.

There was a young teen made a small wooden ship. For hours he carved it with excellent detail. Then he took it to a river that wasn't far from his home. As he put it on the riverside, all of a sudden the ship was moving fast and carried away by water flow. Although he tried to get it into the water, but strong winds carried the small ship away farther and finally it was lost. He was so sad, because he knew how difficult it was if he had to make a ship like that anymore.
Far down the river, there was a man found the little ship and took it to town, then he sold it to a shop. One time, the young teen was walking around town and passing through the shopping area, then he saw the ship that displayed in the store's window was the ship that he made. He entered the store and told the store's owner that it was his small boat (he was sure about it cause he made a small sign on it, but he couldn't prove that it belonged to him)
The store's owner said, "If you want to have this little ship, you have to buy it." The boy was so covet his little boat back to his hand. Finally he bought it from the store. When he received it from the store owner's hand, he said, "A small ship, you are twice mine. I make you and I buy you."

Adriaan Zef : You know Henry Ford. He was an anti-capitalist internationalism. That was why he was hated by the Marxian America. He was more of an entrepreneur who had an never-ending struggle to bring his nation out of network for internationalist who stood behind the Zionist-Jewish conspirators.
As an entrepreneur, he was a person who wasn't oriented towards the financial gain only. His attention to the workers was so great. In fact he's willing to cut the company's profit margin in order to enhance the welfare of his workers.
In 1914, on his own initiative, he ordered the salary of his employees was increased to $ 5 per day. This was troubling his corporate competitors, because the highest salaries of workers in various of his rival company didn't reach half of that amount. He also made another breakthrough with his idea of corporate's profit sharing.
In his first year, he shared $ 12 million to all of his employees without exception. Not enough with that, he also stated that a good knowledge should be spread to everyone. Steps to be done was to eliminate all his patent right for everyone. He's willing to lose millions of dollars for these ideals. He made all of this breakthrough solely to strengthen national industry against the hegemony of international power's investors, in which the Jews were behind it.
His concern to peace was also shown by leading a peace mission in 1916. He formed a coalition consisting of the clergy, writers, politicians, peace-loving activists, and entrepreneurs. By hiring a ship Norway, Oscar II, Ford sailed to Europe as the leader of peace movement.
On the ship, there was one of his followers (a Jewish diplomat/lovers of peace) whose name Rosika Schwimmer. To this Jewish woman, he said, "I know who starts this war. They're the owners of Jewish-German banks." he said by patting a number of papers in his jacket pocket. "I have the proof, here, a number of facts! I can't show it because it's incomplete. About this document he stated, "I don't want to get caught up in the debate whether the document is fake or genuine. The only statement that I can spend with respect to this, for whatever reason, is that everything that happens in this world today is in accordance with the document's content. The protocols are in accordance with the occurrence of an ongoing ... "
With this attitude, he was reaping a lot of resistance from International Jewish figures. Pressure by the pressure experienced by him. A prominent US Jewish lawyer, Louis Marshall, sued him for a public apology for his actions and anti-Jewish views. All his business activities was intercepted. CieL- FreYa Ceastle: The absolute evil in Harry Potter story (vampire, witch, soul-sucking), it's all the time and can give birth to crimes without stop. The concept of such world is potential to increase the number of children who are not happy, as well as the aggressive people and troublemakers to other people. Until the 18th century, people believe in white magic (good) and black magic (bad), and somehow they believe that white magic to help the spread kindness. However, in Harry Potter, good magic and evil are not separate, using the same weapon, and both use objects that are used in bad magic (such as: the body, urine, blood, crows, ground burial). However, it's implied that evil magic is used for murder and death. As a result, children are directed towards magic (especially evil magic) and also what is called as the dark science.
Cisca Zarmansyah: I don't know why the blood (another element which causes mental violence) is very much visualized in children's books, but if we believe blood isn't shown on TV news programs, it will be difficult for us to understand the author's purpose. But, anyhow, I agree with you. Use of the terms such "blood, death, soul-sucking" aren't usefull at all. It only causes the mental terror in children whose perception is limited to the physically/visible things.
Fairuz Azalia: Me, too. The concept of violence into the spirit with a mind's frame to accept the "other" as the enemy has become widespread. Therefore, some children had begun to act on behalf of shadows and they started saying that they have superhuman strength. The negative side is very clearly implied in Harry Potter's stories.

December was my party's month. The invitations that have flowed since the end of November came from various circles of friends.
I certainly didn't celebrate it, as well as friends who invited me. Although they were born and baptized, most of them had forgetten the last time they went to church.
So, what kind of Christmas party for those who never went to church? It was definitely exciting. My old friends who used to joke with me came through Facebook. Those who were working abroad would return to their respective countries, and of course Christmas party was an event that shouldn't be missed to meet friends.
In a Christmas party, I couldn't resist tears because I was so surprised by the presence of friend who had just served in Afghanistan. Every month he sent the letter via email, taught me to appreciate the friendship and of course about the life. Every breath to him was a precious momentum. It was fair enough if the bullets and bombs became part of his daily life, and of course the next breath was quite valuable. When I saw him in a healthy, in safe and sound condition, his feet and hands were complete without a disability, I took a deep breath. I was so relieved.
To me, the spirit of Christmas parties was togetherness, togethers, exchanging the news, sharing the stories, dreams and hopes.
John who served in Darfur didn't deterrent to return, although his life was often at stake. Michael, who got laid off because of the global financial crisis was still optimistic, even he felt closer to his son after he was unemployed. Cate who dreamed of the women's empowering in Tonga ( it's one of the Pacific islands), didn't go to church on Christmas day, but she was willing to fly from Rome to Paris, specifically to see me in the Christmas mood. Of course I was very flattered. Her reason was, "It's Christmas, ... time to get together!"
We're not talking about God in Christmas festivities. There were no church songs or the Gospel's verses was read, let alone the prayer. Those present were cheese, champagne, wine and music with "dung dung dung's" rhythm, and... we rocked.
With a friend who didn't like "dung dung dung's" music, we chose a quiet restaurant. The night was crocheted with our life's journey story. Of course, not every story was about happiness, but there was also the bitterness and failure. Everything wasn't to be regrettable, it made us closer.
Then about Christmas gifts. Last Saturday Zef was knocking my door with a bottle of white wine. "I know you don't celebrate it,..." he said with a half whisper, "... Neither I, ... but... it's Chrismas!" and we laughed together. It didn't seem rational, but it was really sweet.
So, was it true that Christmas spirit has lost when religiosity was fading? No. I just discovered the beauty and sincerity, beneath bah humbug, nyah nyah nyah...aahahaha ....
Christmas celebration brought us together without the religion's label. May be people would accuse us as the unbelievers. "Why doesn't God is mentioned? Why doesn't Jesus is worshiped? "
What a heck! History has shown millions of lives become casualties of the conflict of religion during the centuries of time. The conflict occured because the arrogant attitude to the truth of their respective beliefs. And Christmas party was able to demolish it.
At Christmas 2008 I was busy cooking Le Reveillon. I entertained Christian students for dinner. They had no family to celebrate Christmas. For me, that was the best Christmas gift I could give. It was the togetherness.
Congratulations to those who celebrate this Christmas.
