Changing Calendar 2012

I begged the old man who was standing on the threshold of a new year, "Give me a light that lets me move safely into the darkness". The old man replied, "Go into the darkness and put your hand in the hand of God. It would be better for you than light, and safer than a known way."

That's the King George VI discourse in welcoming Christmas Day 1939. A simile how should the British people faced the New Year in a protracted crisis, the world economic depression following the decade of the 1930s.

A crisis arose because the legacy of the past dark sides which we do not fully recognize it. To identify the causes, we must dare to down the past dark hallway, to find the vision and the right formula changes, instead of relying on generic prescriptions known. To find enlightenment in the dark hallway, we need sincerity and submission to the guidance of the Supreme Pointing.

For those who have the courage and resignation, the inherited crisis is not an excuse to find scapegoats, but rather an opportunity for fundamental change. To make fundamental changes, then what must first be realized is whether what we learn today is the fruit of what we sow in the past. Just remember one thing: who sow the wind will reap a storm, and who create the drama will get the karma. Throughout 2012, the public witness the reversal of a government that stands on the pillars of lies. If the elections as democratic input characterized by a variety of 'lie', then the power will use lies as a way of maintaining the power.

But ignorance of each regime of lies is the belief that the people can always be fooled, whereas the people as the "voice of God" never sleep. How neat the lies covered up, there is always the risk of leakage. Gradually, the political parties --- which in their campaigns promises are always the most vocal saying, "No", --- the corruption plagued by the corruption scandals. People from the party's inner circle one by one revealed to be part of a corruption syndicate. More than that, something that starts with the power of a lie can bear the imitation effects at lower levels. Not only stop in the cases of corruption, but the people of the inner circle of power also continue to show their heart attitude to manipulate public reasoning. In the face of public distrust in government performance, they develop an attitude of apologetics. Apologetics is an attitude to take some of the views that reinforce their claims while rejecting some of the other weakens, such as the attitude of the government which is so hooked to spit out a favorable assessment of the world, but so reactive to reject other assessments that drop their claims of success. Such an attitude will give birth to a double standard. On the one hand, the government proud of the state in the G-20. On the other hand, in establish the measures of poverty -- for example-- the government does not follow the used standards in the elite group, but wears a size prevailing in developed countries.

The attitude of apologetics putting the external assessment as an imaging tool, not a means of introspection. Attitudes like that curb the attainment of truth and maturity. Truth be achieved through openness. Maturity forged through willingness and regretting the weakest side of ourselves.

Unfortunately, the government tendency to cover up the fact and realize its weakness is given confirmation by the academics circumference in the ruling. If Joseph Stiglitz advocated the political leaders to engage in scientific forums -- and so that their policies are objective -- then the scientists in the inner circle of rulership have tended to neglect a critical attitude and objectivity in the face of the ruler.

It seems in 2013 will also be colored by "political noise" due to the discovery of the involvement of "high profile actors" in the mega corruption scandals that continue to be left hanging. Meanwhile, the power aspirants will compete for raffle their luck with each other to steal the opportunity. They are not shy with the red light and breaking the state finances, cause the collision of interests at a crossroads. Forward: hit! Rewind: hit! All drivers of vehicles can be locked, potentially causing gridlock in shaping the state, causing congestion in all lanes.

2013 is also the critical points in the development of democracy. We are facing a critical point in the course of democratic transition, that if it fails to run then it can swing back toward the anarchy or tyranny. The level of public confidence in democracy and the government is in the lowest point that can threaten the survival of democracy.

As reminded by Robert Maynard Hutchins, "The death of democracy is not a murder by a sudden ambush, but rather a gradual extinction caused by apathy, ignorance, and misery." We are also faced with global challenges to bang the challenges doors: Asian free trade, AFTA, the fulfillment of the MDGs, and the pressures of global capitalism, which if it fails to deal with then it can cause a great harm to the nation.

Walking down the dark alley of the past is not meant to make us lose the hope. Experience shows that the spirit of the fight has unlimited ability to face the obstacles because of the expectations. Anger, fear, and grief are unbearable, but so far there is still hope, the spirit remains on.

Thus, as written in the Gospel of Matthew, "Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself." It was also said by the Prophet Muhammad, "If only you know the apocalypse happens tomorrow, while in the grip of your hand there is a seed, then plant it."

A young man asked an old man who was planting the trees. "Why do you grow something that you will not enjoy its fruit?"

The old man replied, "Do you eat whatever the result of what you planted by your own self?"

Fear of tomorrow can only be overcome by planting the virtues today. If our vision for the future clouded by the fog of anxiety and pessimism, then the main cause of it is because we stop growing the hope for the future.

Time is not an eternity, just the labyrinth of question mark which at each end of its interval and its doors will always reserve a mystery. But every trail is not in vain. Just like the ocean begins with drops of water, then any excursions will give hope for the future. Painting of the future is our choice to carve colors on the canvas today.

Brahimi: Only two ways for Syria - political process or hell
There are three crucial things that have to be managed on the conflict in Syria. Cessation of conflict and violence, the humanitarian assistance to civilians and political transition. They are interdependent, because they can strengthen or weaken each other if there is no progress.  Especially with regard to the political transition, it is important to underline the importance of a natural political process. Now, what happens is there's no a forum for both parties to meet without preconditions. This condition needs to be changed. About the position should be carried by Assad needs to be seen through consensus after the talks.

In the field, both sides are equally feeling that they have the upper hand, that they can win with a military option. There is a tendency for self-fulfillment on both sides. The opposition believes Assad will soon fall, while the regime believes that the opposition can be defeated. Both parties should resolve their differences through the political process. Too bad if the political process is stalled because there is still debate about the Assad's future. Some figures from the opposition insisted Assad resignation should be a precondition for the start of the political process. On the other hand, some countries such as Russia finds that whether or not Assad retreat is supposed to be the result of a political process.

He who behaves awkwardly, chaotic, and completely wrong because of nervousness in expressing his feeling for me is the most worthy man I love. Instead, I deserve to suspect him who is very fluent in love speech, because the fluency could be gained from a long practice in an art of seduction, which it has hurt many good people as his guinea pigs. This is my life, I'll be wise.

"Thank you for your perception! I like your romantic side, even if I do not always comment and I'm glad that you're in my circle of friends."
(Courtesies by: Wolfgang A. Gerhardt)

Wolfgang A.Gerhardt : May be you like this Sunday collage

Cisca Zarmansyah : Before today, there never was a person doing this to me. You create a simple matter to look special. This is a special thing for me.

Cisca Zarmansyah : Thank you. I love it. I love you, my friend.

CieL- FreYa Ceastle : Hmm, he's so nice...

"I am me.
In all the world,
there is no one else exactly like me.
Everything that comes out of me
is authentically mine,
because I alone chose it --
I own everything about me:
my body,
my feelings,
my mouth,
my voice,
all my actions,
whether they be to others or myself.
I own my fantasies,
my dreams,
my hopes,
my fears.
I own my triumphs and successes,
all my failures and mistakes.
Because I own all of me,
I can become intimately acquainted with me.
By so doing,
I can love me
and be friendly with all my parts.
I know there are aspects about myself that puzzle me,
and other aspects that I do not know
-- but as long as I am friendly
and loving to myself,
I can courageously and hopefully
look for solutions
to the puzzles and ways
to find out more about me.
However I look and sound,
whatever I say and do,
and whatever I think and feel at a given moment in time
is authentically me.
If later some parts of how I looked,
sounded,
thought,
and felt
turn out to be unfitting,
I can discard that which is unfitting,
keep the rest,
and invent something new
for that which I discarded.
I can see,
hear,
feel,
think,
say, and do.
I have the tools to survive,
to be close to others,
to be productive,
and to make sense
and order out of the world of people
and things outside of me.
I own me,
and therefore,
I can engineer me.
I am me,
and I am okay."
