Love and the gentle heart are one thing,
just as the poet says in his verse,
each from the other one as well divorced
as reason from the mind’s reasoning.
Nature craves love, and then creates love king,
and makes the heart a palace where he'll stay,
perhaps a shorter or a longer day,
breathing quietly, gently slumbering.
Then beauty in a virtuous woman's face
makes the eyes yearn, and strikes the heart,
so that the eyes' desire's reborn again,
and often, rooting there with longing, stays,
Till love, at last, out of its dreaming starts.
Woman's moved likewise by a virtuous man.
Dante Alighieri - Love and the Gentle Heart
► Blow off your own needs for one more day -- you ought to rack up some more good karma before launching into anything new or unusual. One last friend needs your help in a big way. Trying is much more important that achieving, right now. You can't get caught up in winning a foot race -- you have to focus more on the art of running and how to enjoy your part of the process. Remember, work doesn't feel like work when you're having a good time doing it. So if your daily routine is all about winning recognition, then you need to make some adjustments. Your day should be all about learning new things and enjoying the ins and outs of your job. You're slowing down today -- but that's a good thing! Make sure that you're taking your time with whatever is coming your way, as getting it right is far more important than getting it done fast.
You need to strike while the iron is hot! You have a golden opportunity right in front of you, but it's going to head for the hills unless you take advantage of it. Why worry about the consequences when there is no possible way of knowing for sure what they will be? Wherever your sense of adventure went, you have got to get it back right away! Putting so much effort into minimizing your risk doesn't always pay off, so just relax and let the chips fall where they may.

Widely used in traditional Chinese medicine and an increasingly sough-after status symbol, rhino horn products can be easily bought all over South East Asia. But DNA tests on those products reveal that up to 90% of them are fakes. So what is behind the alarming poaching rates of the African rhino? Following a trail from South Africa, through Vietnam to Laos, conservation activist Karl Ammann uncovers the complicity of high-ranking officials in the illegal trade. Caught on hidden camera, a horn trader confesses: "My clients are mainly provincial leaders, local governors". With prices for real rhino horn reaching $60,000 per kilo and international agencies unable to tackle the problem, is there anything we can do to protect these endangered animals?

I turned off the lights at bedtime. This hotel reminded me of sadistic events that made the city's history was filled with blood. In splashed light emanating from the garden in the yard, I saw the drizzle. I opened the window curtains and enjoyed the falling rain splashed the window.
Actually I really wanted to sleep soundly tonight, after a day of pilgrimage to the various cemeteries in the city. But the mass graves were like yawning now. The Hands outstretched, as if they wanted to rip the sky.
In February, it rained every day. In a slab night, I was led into a Dutch's heritage warehouse. This warehouse --- which was used as a colonial army's logistics storage --- had a spacious ground floor and balcony located in the far left and right. I thought only me who would face this ordeal. In fact, before I was kicked --- like a rat plunged into a bath full of oil --- I saw dozens of people already on the ground floor of the warehouse. Faces and all over their bodies smeared with oil. Apparently the room was used a place to hoard the used oil. Some drums still seen sitting near the wall.
Never I thought this warehouse filled with fishy smell. Blood pooled on the floor had gone through my eyes. According to the news I heard, the execution of those who labeled communists like myself has been going on since the beginning of last year.
Some of them I recognized as neighbors who daily living as farmers. Their children were my school friends. "Are their children also herded like me?" Lest they also did not understand, just like me, why we were kidnapped and treated as prisoners like this: hands tied behind our backs, and got the painful insults.
A person wearing a uniform, but I thought he was not a soldier, obviously calling me a communist lackeys. He even discredited me by accusing the pagans were the communist.
"Communism is the ghost that must be buried alive", he snapped, shortly after he kidnapped me from my own home. This man also kicked my back several times. Sore. Unfortunately, if I screamed or groaned, the louder he abused me.
In the dark of the night I heard the clatter of shoes on the balcony, like the sound of soldiers being lined up. Surely it was a firing squad. I thought this was where my life would end up without a fight. When a call for a shooting rang out, the sharp bullets would surely explode in the head, chest, or perhaps also in the whole of my body.
I thought I had to pray. Therefore, as long as I knew, I was someone who was quite religious. Every morning before going to school, I always took time to go to some sort of shrine, which was laid by Father at the northeast corner of our living room. And in times of crisis like this, at least since two weeks ago I always prayed so that Father immediately returned. I was not at the house when Father was kidnapped by men in uniform with military escort.
According to Mother's story, the people who kidnapped him just saying "We borrow your husband for a while!"
Mom immediately understood these words as a hint that Father would never come back again. There's no woman who did not surrender at this time. Even if my mother ran to and fro with the intention of pleading for help, no one dared to help, because to help meant siding with the Communists. Ah, so easy people were cut off with an accusation only.
Was Father also killed in the barn? That's not known by all of our family. At this time, the allotment of prisoners to a village was very prevalent. It could be, Father was dumped in a street, where the executioners had been waiting there ready to execute. If so, then of course, even his body was not going to ever be found.
Accusations addressed to Father was the same as the accusations hurled at me. I was regarded as a frontman of the student bonding who was making efforts to revive communist consolidation in this city. These allegations clearly fabricated, as I understood then that the polarization was now so sharp in this town, not solely because of the barriers party ideology. In it, there's personal sentiments, groups, and even religion due to rivalries which actually it was created to support the new government powers.
So, soon when the cry of a gunshot echoed in this room, I would fall as martyrs of a power, which was then according to my notes became very authoritarian rule.
In the dim light of five watts, at a glance I saw the muzzle of the guns were directed to us. Shortly with one barrage of rifle from the balcony, we would die. I wondered what happened after that. Most likely our bodies would be left to rot several days to serve as an example for those who were accused of embracing the Communist ideology.
And after a few days then the other prisoners would bury us in a big hole, in a place that had been previously selected. I imagined my corpse was nothing more valuable than a dead dog. I was buried not because proper treatment, but because I raised the stench everywhere. And they who were still alive would live in fear because our bodies would be spitting diseases that could destroy the entire city's life.
Suddenly in this powerlessness, I was grateful that I was born to die in the army rifle. Some people I knew, including my uncle himself was killed with horrible way. After being slaughtered in a ravine near the beach in the west of the city, their heads severed and displayed in the guard posts. While the rest of the body were left mired reach the shore. If by chance there was high tide, then the bodies would be carried away by the water flow. But at low tide, they were like thousands of fish washed up on the beach and spreading a foul smell everywhere.
When I heard the gun cocked, before the cry, "Fire!", we suddenly shouted in unison, "Let us pray."
There was no answer. Just a barrage of bullets pierced into our bodies. In the middle of resignation, I tried to run to hide behind a drum, but apparently it had been deliberately doused with gasoline, thus when the fire ignited : ... Exploded! Destroying everything around it.
Before finally my own body scorched and into pieces, I still had time to see someone trying to run towards the balcony, but the bullet ambush destroyed his effort. Then he fell down like a dead cat in the street.
When I was reaching the thirties, I felt a wave of fear every time I was in the dark. Every night I always dreaming the same dream, where I was in the middle of a very large fire siege. I had shortness of breath because pinned by the charred walls, the house roof were ready to collapse. Usually then I woke up in shock, wheezing and sweating. According to my maid, I often screamed like someone who asked for help. But when he tried to knock on my door, always, no answer from me.
This fact made my job to take care companies left by father abandoned. Some of my subordinates advised me to start fighting my fears in the dark by letting myself in a dark room as well. When I took the advice, I actually began to suffer from shortness of breath and vomiting due to depression. Similarly, when I fought the nightmares by taking the sleeping pills, I even got sick for several weeks. And since then, every time I closed my eyes, the fire was burning all over my body.
"You just are depressed due to the burden of piling work. If you do not mind, let me do therapy to look for the causes that may appear on your past ...," said the doctor who finally I went to him, after a friend suggested it repeatedly. I was ashamed to go to a psychiatrist in the city, because they would think that I was crazy.
"What do you mean, doctor?"
"Yes, the goal is to therapy. It requires cooperation."
Through the cassette recorder then I heard, I had lived as a student who first locked up in a warehouse, and then brutally slaughtered by a barrage of bullets. When I tried to hide in a drum, it actually exploded and burned my body. With me, thousands of people were killed, those who did not know anything about the history of their mistakes.
