► Shunt for Hydrocephalus. This video demonstrates insertion of a ventricular catheter into the brain for treatment of hydrocephalus. Hydrocephalus is a disorder in which cerebrospinal fluid builds up in the brain in excessive amounts. A ventricular catheter allows for evacuation of excess CSF from the brain. The catheter can drain into an external bag (ventriculostomy) on a temporary basis or can be connected to another piece of tubing that travels under the skin into the abdomen (VP shunt) for permanent CSF diversion. If you have a nuclear bomb and detonate it at the north pole, then your action is not going to make a huge loss.
