Why is he crying? It's not enough he just sent his condolences to the families of the victims in Newtown. He needs to immediately reform the legislation to restrictions on the ownership and firearms control. If this is a national tragedy, then this tragedy requires a national response. He has allowed the GLBT marriage, ...why does he delay his assertiveness in terms of gun ownership?

"I lost my money, my job, my land...everything," explains an asylum seeker intercepted on a boat bound for Australia. Thousands continue to make the journey, claiming to be in search of a life free from persecution. "Before the paramilitary could do anything to me, I fled the country," says one man. But while the Sri Lankan government maintain that life is improving and people should be more patient, its message appears to be falling on deaf ears. This report follows the Sri Lankan navy as it intercepts another boat loaded with asylum seekers bound for Australia, and asks: now the country's civil war is over, why are things so bad that people are still desperate to leave?

► Chemical Bisphenol - A Found to Decrease Sperm Quality. Uploaded on Oct 28, 2010 by TradeTheTrend :: "The UK's Telegraph is reporting that Bisphenol-A (BPA), a chemical widely used to make containers harder and watertight and commonly found in food and beverage containers, cell phone casings and electronics, has been found to have an influence on male impotence and decreased sperm quality.
The Kaiser Permanente research center 5-year study of 514 workers in Chinese factories found that men with higher urine and blood BPA levels were two to four times more likely to have poor semen quality, defined here as low sperm concentration, vitality and mobility. Earlier studies have linked the substance to low sex drive, impotence and DNA damage in sperm. The new study does not just indicate that higher levels of BPA in a person's system inversely affect sperm quality, but also that even lower-than-average levels of the substance can have adverse effects.
BPA has already been banned in Canada and three US states and most manufacturers are phasing out the use of BPA in products, however, older products containing the substance, such as baby bottles, are still on the market. The FDA supports the removal of the chemical from products and has stated concerns regarding the impact it has on babies and young children."

► Increased frequency of US mass shootings. Published on Dec 14, 2012 :: Al Jazeera speaks to Mark Follman, senior editor at Mother Jones magazine, where he leads research on mass shootings in the United States. Speaking to Al Jazeera's Sami Zeidan from Indianapolis, Indiana, Follman said the frequency of mass shootings have increased in the US and that "it's been a record year in terms of casualties" with seven shootings in 2012.
Follman, who researched 61 mass shootings, said 35 of the cases were murder-suicides. Another seven shooters died in police shootouts, often referred to as "suicide by cop", trends that he says highlight the fact that "the vast majority of these people have serious mental health problems". Though he said politicians will often say the immediate aftermath of a shooting is not the time to debate the nation's gun control policy, Follman said "accessibility to weapons is obviously a key factor to this problem". He referred to "a wave of state gun laws that have made gun restrictions looser and looser".
