► Prostitutes of God (Documentary). Published on Aug 21, 2012 :: Some parents in India practice the Devadasi tradition, selling their daughters into a life of prostitution, often around the age of 10. We traveled to the Indian city of Sangli to meet a group of bolshy sex workers selling their bodies in the name of the Hindu Goddess Yellamma. Local sex worker Anitha invites us for lunch in her brothel; shows us her homemade "sex rooms," and tells us what it's like to be a religious prostitute in modern India. Afterwards we cross the border into Karnataka into the heartlands of the ancient Devadasi tradition to uncover the mystery of the Goddess Yellamma, and find out how a religious icon became a justification for child prostitution. We meet two teenage Devadasis, Mala and Belavva, to talk sex, saris, and how they cope with the deadly threat of HIV.
A dancing transvestite Devadasi steals the limelight in the next phase of our journey, as we travel deeper into the murky world of temple prostitution. He invites us for chai, gives our host a manicure, and teaches us a few tricks of the trade. We explore the home of the most celebrated Devadasi brothel madam in the business to find out how she lures the next generation of girls into the sex trade. For the grand finale we went to the annual full moon festival in Saundatti, the most prestigious event in the Devadasi calendar. The colour, dancing and celebrations of the festival disguise the darkness of its underlying purpose: child sex trafficking. Here traffickers, pimps and brothel madams come from all over India to recruit young girls and boys into the sex trade in the name of the Goddess Yellamma. On our way home, we are invited to a remote mud hut to meet two older Devadasi women a mother and daughter who reflect back on their lives and ask the question: what kind of religion turns parents into pimps and their children into prostitutes?

► 'Pants' skyscraper? China reacts against latest tall building. 8 December 2012 - This has been a landmark year for the world's skyscrapers. Despite the global financial crisis, 2012 saw the unveiling of Europe's new tallest building, the Shard in London - and by the end of the year, nearly three-quarters of the world's 100 tallest buildings will be located in Asia and the Middle East, a dramatic shift from west to east. China has been the centre of this skyscraper boom of the last decade, and now has more than 200 buildings of over 200m (656ft) in height across 33 cities. ► PM Monti to resign after Italy's 2013 budget: Berlusconi rising?
(Funny! Very funny! Berlusconi, last year your people welcomed your resignation with great fanfare. You resigned as Italian PM in November 2011 due to your country's economy. Now, you want to re-run for Italian Prime Minister, for what purpose, hm ....? Want longevity up to 120 years? hehehe...Italy, you are very vulnerable to blacklisting bailouts in the near future. One of the points that threaten your economy stability comes from the realm of politics. Various political scenario is feasible to be raised by market participants, given the economic and financial policy is highly dependent on who is governing the country. Political period (which is relatively stable during Monti's era) would not have happened in Berlusconi's era. Italy, you will not achieve political balance as many parties have an interest to control parliament. Your political factors will further worsen the macro sentiment, and next year you will experience the greater volatility. And I will happily wagging our pizza payments, right in front of my partner's nose, "For his second time, dahling ....")
Uh yeah, there's still a little word for you, Berlusconi. A good leader will put high commitment to the welfare and feelings of the people around him. There is a saying that we can not please everyone, but a good leader knows what the underlying issues that all people want and feel. Also, not only the payroll system issues or welfare. Because sometimes the issue of welfare is not necessarily with the addition of income. But how a leader can give a clear commitment, for example, his commitment to economic recovery which affected the purchasing power of his people. If the economy is good, the people's economy is also likely to be good, vice versa.
And there's no other word to describe the most appropriate type of personality as you: no commitment, no shame, very chancy, and opportunist.)

H e l p m e
I was having a mother syndrome. A few nights after I gave birth to our baby, I found out my partner was sleeping next to his baby in our bedroom. I could not help but burst into tears on the doorstep. I felt very lonely, and I wanted to get away from them: my baby and my fiance. I felt no one in this world who needed me after I gave birth, including my partner. I felt he just loved his baby, and he did not love me as before, like before we had a baby.
For over 7 years we were together, I was never worried asking if he really did love me. But in these days I felt very uneasy and dubious all about us. Believe it or not, but I couldn't believe that I was able to think to leave my fiance and took away my baby away from his life. Then I had to get used to life away from him. I guessed I would be strong, because after all, our baby was the sweetest keepsake and greatest in my life, from him. So, every time I looked at my baby's face, I would love the his father from a distance. (What? From a distance? How far? From the doorway to the bed? Ahh, ... it was too far. I had to narrow this gap by getting closer to them. But then the closer I got, I felt they were getting away from me. But I kept coming closer and closer to them, though I heard my heart cry out, "They do not need you anymore! They do not need you anymore!")
Shut up! I was very sad to hear the voices, and finally crying alone into bed. I hugged my partner's back firmly until he woke up. When he asked why I was crying, I could not say any reason. I felt I really loved him, but I also wanted to leave him. I did not want to see us become older and eventually die. I wanted to ask him whether he would be deprived of his presence function in me if our baby has been born and being among us? Funny, was not it? Including my question to him whether he would still love me just as great as his love for our baby. I was so ashamed to say this small feeling to him. I would be very embarrassed if he would ask, "Actually, who is the baby in our house?"
According to you, what would I say?
"I'm not your baby!"
"Of course you're not a baby, you're the mother of our baby"
"So, I'm not your baby?" (Suddenly I could see clearly the presence of another old baby elsewhere, in other place -- but very close to here -- began preparing to cry. Do not ask me who she's!)
"What?"
"What do you mean by what?"
"Honey, are you ...?"
"What..."
"Do you...?"
"What..."
"Hmm ... I think I can catch you mean."
"What? What do you know now?" (Geez, should I just go ahead and jump into his arms? Did he know that I just want us to make love until the morning came, and we did not have to include the presence of our baby? Was I sinning if being a mother who preferred to have sex with my partner than taking care of our baby?)
Well, sort of. You see that? What a paradox is an ongoing feeling in me, right? Sometimes I want to go away from his life forever, but sometimes I want to be with him forever. And such mixed feelings continue to haunt me for a few days. One good thing is he is always patient with this symptom. He understands very well all the unspoken words in my tongue and all the hidden desires in my heart. We set our schedule to have sex with more stealth, without ignoring the need and the time to pay attention to our baby. (Dahling, I want him to grow big soon. I wish he could cry in eighteen languages of the world.)
