Amid such conditions, it turns out, the religion which has been providing peace and peace is also dissolved, become part of the problem, the basic problem of social crisis. The doctrine of religion was used as a tool of social legitimacy to baptize the violations. Terrible tragedies such as Auschwitz, Rwanda, Bosnia, and the World Trade Center, the Bali bombings, the destruction of Afghanistan and Iraq, and the bloody Israeli-Palestinian conflict were bad epiphanies which reveals what can happen when a sense of the sanctity of every human being is gone. Religion just seems pessimistic and reflects the era of violence and despair.
Tragedy horizontal social conflict today is no longer considered as an ordinary political battle, but as a cosmic battle between good and evil. They are very concerned about the threat of annihilation so they fortify their identity by reviving the doctrines and practices of the past. They have changed the religious myth to logos, whether by stating that their teachings are scientifically correct or change their elaborate mythology into one efficient ideology. Thus, in practice they often ignore the most sacred values in faith.
Models based on the reality of diversity is still stuck in the concept of Islamic science orientation. Everything is judged in black or white, kosher or illegitimate, muslims or non-muslims, and other discriminatory stereotypes. It is a model of religion in the hands of the clergy. They spoke eloquently about religion, but "failed" in discovering the wisdom and virtue of religion. They memorized ranging from A to Z about religion, but it only became the public knowledge, it didn't penetrate into the soul. Failure to understand the religion continues to fuel relentless horizontal conflict. All will claim their religion as the only true path, the way of salvation.
If so, where do we step up our religious path in the future? This is where the importance of voicing the Religion of Love, the most strategic religious model of the future. Religion of love is born not from the womb of a particular religion, but it is born to be a holy mission to spread happiness, peace, and tranquility. Religion of Love is no longer looking at the boundaries of religion, race, ethnicity, culture, and nation. Religion of Love is transformed into an umbrella for the universe. People who take shelter under the umbrella of love will feel His presence, so that their life no longer show malice and cruelty to others. The concept is as claimed by the prophet, "Your faith is imperfect faith if you do not love your brother as you love yourself"
This model was practiced in the Prophet's mission, both in Mecca and Medina. Despite being the supreme leader of Medina, he never forced Islam and its Sharia to the Jews and Christians. Everything was sheltering under the umbrella of the Prophet. When the idolaters who often throwing shit to him were ill, even he was the first to see them. When he conquered Mecca City, there was no drop of blood dripping, whereas before they were his big enemies.
That was what then practiced by Rasidun. Who did not marvel at the Caliph Umar bin Khattab when he lifting of rice from his own treasury to be delivered to his people who were starving? Spirit of Prophet's love was then practiced by great Sufi such as Rabia Basri, Abdul-Qadir Gilani and Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi. The Sufis were not only spreading compassion for fellow Muslims, but also inter-faith. In his method, Rumi was not only surrounded by Muslim students, but also from the Jews and Christians. Rumi never forced Islam to the scripture experts.
They see the way to God do not need to be restricted and sealed by certain religious institutions and organizations. The path to God is the way to spread compassion. Why do we have to narrow the love of God which encompasses the heavens and the earth? Listen to what was said by Ibn Arabi, the great Sufi in the 13th-century, "My heart has been able to accept various forms, reindeer pastures or Christian's priests monastery, and pagan temples, Kabah for pilgrims, and the Torah, and the Qur'an. I follow the Religion of Love. Wherever the love camel brought me, then my religion was there."
