■ By Victor Thorn - AMERICAN FREE PRESS : BIG OIL BEHIND HAITI QUAKE?
After Sandy, Haiti Hit With More Cholera. Hurricane Sandy hit Haiti in late October, bringing with it a rise in cholera cases. Even though the Ministry of Health's response to cholera remains inadequate, many aid organizations are leaving the country. Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) runs five cholera treatment centers to respond to the epidemic and teams have increased the number of beds in order to deal with the influx of patients. At the treatment centers, patients receive oral or intravenous rehydration and the most severe cases receive antibiotics. Published on Dec 18, 2012 by MSF
Inside Story Americas - Is the UN repackaging Haiti's cholera aid? Published on Dec 21, 2012 by AlJazeeraEnglish ( My post : 22 December 2012)
Victor Thorn American Free Press writer began his article with the question "Does the American oil companies kill hundreds of thousands of Haitians in the process of extracting the oil wells? "He also cited a statement by a social commentator and human rights lawyer Ezili Danto who argued that the process of hydraulic fracturing to be the cause of the earthquake on Jan. 12 in Haiti.
Thorn said, in essence, the main factor behind the disaster in Haiti is oil. He said, "Do you think, for what purpose 20 thousand American troops now occupy and control the weak and poor country of Haiti?"
For decades, cholera has never happened in Haiti. The disease came a few months after the January 2010 earthquake that left thousands of people homeless and living in makeshift camps. Nepalese peacekeepers who had arrived suspected of carrying cholera to Haiti.
