I'm very impressed with your comment about the confession. You are very correct, memsahib. The regret in the heart of every offender law is more important than physical punishment which should be accepted. A person can die without ever regretting the deeds / sins that have been done, and now Mladic has been old enough to die and he can die anywhere, anytime.If the case is quickly revealed in yester years, maybe he can gamble with time, assuming that his age is still adequate for worldly pleasures. And unfortunately, he is not caught at an early age, but yesterday, May 26, 2011 at the age of 69 years and he's also (as reported in http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1393794/Mladic-treated-cancer-2009-lawyer-says--Serb-officials-doubt-claims.html) suffering from cancer.
If the average of person's physical age is 60-80 years, what kind of pleasure is still sought by him? And the most important is how we can force someone to regret of what is not done by him? (if he's innocent), and vice versa, how long one can circumvent the crimes done by him without feeling guilty?
Jan Pepijn Servaas : The most cruel genocide on earth is Jewish genocide, its destruction was carried out systematically by type of religion, race, ethnicity, nationality and gender were slaughtered in the number of unmatched until now. Along with the fall of Jewish victims, 9 or 10 million Gypsies, Slavs (Tribe in Poland, Ukraine, and Belarus), homosexuals, and people with disabilities and unable to be killed, total casualties estimated at 20 million people were slaughtered in concentration camps of Nazi.
Adriaan Zef : It was a deliberate step of Josef Stalin and the Communist Party of Ukraine for slaughtered the Ukrainian farmers who were rebelling and protesting because their farms were taken over. Hunger become a tool of oppression.

As the international community, we must gather the courage to ensure that such mass atrocities and genocide will not happen again, bla ... bla ... bla!" it sounded still better than Sarkozy, ... pheww!... he was very arrogant to apologize to Rwanda

Fairuz Azalia : Almira Izzati, when Obama make a speech commemorating the 16th anniversary of genocide in Rwanda, he said the world must renew its commitment to prevent cruelty. In his statement, he said about the world attention on those who died and honoring those who survived in the genocide in 1994. He said it was not enough just to say "don't let happen again", the international community must double the effort to prevent such actions.

Fairuz Azalia : 18 June 2011; Guatemala: Ex-armed forces chief Lopez Fuentes arrested : Guatemalan authorities have arrested a former armed forces chief accused of joining in massacres during the nation's civil war nearly 30 years ago.
Retired general Hector Mario Lopez Fuentes, 81, was detained in the capital, Guatemala City, on Friday.
Human rights groups have accused him of participating in genocide and crimes against humanity during the military government of Efrain Rios Montt.
It is not clear how Mr Lopez Fuentes is likely to plead to the charges.
Guatemala's office of public prosecutions said he was accused of being the intellectual author behind the killings of more than 300 indigenous Maya civilians from the Ixil region in 1982 and 1983.
It is the latest high-profile arrest linked to alleged crimes committed during the country's 36-year civil war.
More than 200,000 people were killed or disappeared during the conflict, the vast majority at the hands of the security forces.
The security forces at the time said they targeted left-wing guerrillas during counter-insurgency operations. (source : BBC)
