AN American girl who aimed to raise $US300 to bring clean water to an African village, but then died in a car crash before achieving her goal, has inspired 10,000 people to donate more than $US400,000 to the cause.
Rachel Beckwith wanted to raise $300 by her ninth birthday to help bring clean water to people in poor countries. Donors from across the world are making sure her wish is realized.
Rachel Beckwith, of Bellevue, Washington, was $80 short of her goal when she turned nine in June, then a horrific highway traffic accident took her life away last week.
[Updated July 25, 4:25 p.m.] For her 9th birthday last month, Rachel Beckwith told people that instead of giving her presents, they should donate to a charity providing clean water to families in developing nations. The Seattle-area girl came up with $220, short of her $300 goal.
Good girl, when we talked about you in our bedroom porch, I told him, "Darling, why is she so quick to live in this world?"
He didn't answer my question. As usual, he always thought that I had the answers to all my questions. He just caressed my belly and hugged me tightly. "Do you want us to have a baby girl?"
That's him, always answering my questions with questions, especially to the question with many answers.
"You can't answer me, but I think she'll be a beautiful and fragrant flower to paradise. God wanted this beautiful child will soothe His Garden." I said a bit poetic. Uh, have I told you lately that I often romantic and melancholy?
"That's nice, hon. For a moment, your answer can answer your own question." he answered my question.
