Xinhua said, "Seven killed, 61 injured in Venezuelan post-election protests" How do you react?  NY Daily News said, "Boston Marathon bombing". How do you react?... ehehehehe.... It's different, Cisca. Okay, okay, it's different. Okay. Many people die in this world, right? But terrorism is not dead, right? That's it. Oh. American prestige is too big for such a small explosion. Ehehehe, I was imagining how the world's reaction if the situation in Syria war would happen in America. Wow. ]

► Pearl Harbor The View From Japan 1994. On December 7, 1941, explosions rocked Pearl Harbor and altered the course of history. Now, meet the man who executed the attack. Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto was a military genius who brought modern warfare into the aerial age. Although opposed to attacking the United States and "awakening the sleeping giant," Admiral Yamamoto dedicated his life to the battle that devastated U.S. morale and forced America into World War II.

In an interesting historical departure, this fascinating documentary analyzes the attack on Pearl Harbor from the Japanese point of view and focuses on Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, the Japanese military mastermind who (though bitterly opposed) planned the attack on the U.S. fleet anchored in Hawaii. If history is written by the victors, this view of the events of December 7, 1941, fills an important gap in the historical narrative of World War II.

It is somewhat mis-titled, for it actually briefly covers the entire ill-fated Pacific campaign. It has a strong focus on Admiral Yamamoto himself--his foresight and vision as a military leader, and his reluctance to enter into a fight with the U.S. It is interesting to hear a few words from the Japanese perspective, yet it seems that is all you get--a few words. There is little groundwork laid which might explain more fully Japan's reasons for attacking us.

■ Africa Beats: Putting the soul into Soweto. The BBC series Africa Beats is back, looking at up-and-coming musical talent from around the continent. The new series begins with The Soil, a trio from South Africa who perform in a melodic township style which they call Kasi Soul.

The group's debut album, also called The Soil, has gone platinum, and they made their US debut in March 2013.  The Soil are Ntsika Fana Ngxanga, the main composer, his brother Luphindo, who does the human beat box and bass lines, and female vocalist Buhlebendalo Mda.

■ Texas fertilizer plant explosion registers as earthquake, many buildings leveled. The explosion occurred Wednesday at a fertilizer plant in the town of West, north of Waco, Texas. A fireball of nearly 30 meters high has been reported along with a massive power outage. The US Geological Survey registered the explosion as a 2.1 magnitude quake, adding that "the magnitude measures only the ground motion, not the air wave, so is substantially less than the true size of the event."
