News Headlines (434) 8 December - 9 December 2013

ONLINE TODAY

Right now, you're absolutely unstoppable in the career department. Better warn whoever might foolishly think they're giving you competition for the job you're after to just step aside, or they might get hurt. Then again, with the performance you've been putting in lately on the job, you've probably already decimated the competition. Prepare for a celebration -- and don't worry about being able to afford it. Reach out and lend a hand to someone who needs it today -- you should score extra karma, and you may find that you're drawn toward something new and cool once the day is done.

Real problems involving your nearest and dearest need most of your attention, so try to ignore frivolous situations as much as possible. You have enough projects to keep you busy for now -- avoid taking on any new business or personal tasks unless it's absolutely necessary. The key word right now is 'prioritize.' Although it might be difficult to tear yourself away from your own dramas, your selflessness will be rewarded in extremely beneficial ways.

EDUCATION : Rome and a Villa: Hadrian's Pantheon and Tivoli Retreat. Roman Architecture (HSAR 252)

Professor Kleiner features the architecture built in and around Rome during the reign of Hadrian. The lecture begins with the Temple of Venus and Roma, a Greek-style temple constructed near the Colosseum in Rome, which may have been designed by Hadrian himself. Professor Kleiner then turns to the Pantheon, a temple dedicated to all the gods that combines the marble porch and pediment of a traditional Greco-Roman temple with a vast concrete cylindrical drum, hemispherical dome, and central oculus. The porch serves to conceal the circular shape from view, but upon entering the structure the visitor is impressed by the massive interior space and theatrical play of light. The Pantheon represents the culmination of the Roman quest towards an architecture that shapes and dramatizes interior space. Professor Kleiner next discusses the Villa of Hadrian at Tivoli, a sprawling complex in which the emperor re-created buildings and works of art he observed during his empire-wide travels. The lecture concludes with a brief overview of the Mausoleum of Hadrian (the Castel Sant'Angelo), a round tomb that refers back to the Mausoleum of Augustus and served as the last resting place for Hadrian and the succeeding Antonine dynasty.

Putin spokesman: customs union not discussed
Geez, I could not believe my dream last night. I kissed Putin's cheeks, and he replied kissing me with the left edge of my lips. Meanwhile, my baby was being fed by my partner. His white bowl and white plastic spoons were also looking at me from a distance. Mom, you do not feed me! My partner and I did not care of each other because we had split. Cool, was not it? We had been divorced even without preceded by a wedding at all. Ehhhehee... in my dream!

His cheeks were cold and soft. Putin was not a man who liked to impose his will to be followed by others. I saw my partner was still busy feeding our baby. I saw him pushing the spoon into his mouth. Icky! He made me very uncomfortable and I was thankful we had split. So I did not need to hesitate to snatch them all from his hands: a plate of porridge, a spoon, and my baby. And I was back to where Putin was waiting for me and my baby.

BUSINESS : The 50 Shades of Grey Empire Now Includes a Lingerie Line
Arghh ... the more days I increasingly pessimistic in accepting the concept of a woman's physical beauty. This is not about the design and all the trappings of lingerie. Are they really women? I do not want to wear a lingerie if its model is a transgender. Sorry. Lately I feel that the genitals wrapper is not a pride to women, but rather on how we treat our sexual organs in public. I also will not be aroused by the most sexy bodied women, because I'm not a lesbian. And I'm not going to buy lingerie that makes me feel insulted, among others, namely: when they thought I was a whore; when I unwittingly compete with the man who became a woman; blah!
