SCIENCE DAILY  May 1, 2013 : New Brain Research Shows Two Parents May Be Better Than One — A team of researchers at the University of Calgary's Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI) have discovered that adult brain cell production might be determined, in part, by the early parental environment. SP!R!T Introdans. In SP!R!T Introdans features work by several choreographers who, each in their own way, express power and spirit through dance. Artists from various continents come together in this programme to present Dutch premieres.

The central theme of the mystical Bardo by the Japanese choreographer Toru Shimazaki is life after death: its a spellbinding choreography full of passion and dynamism. The South African choreographer Vincent Mantsoe previously appeared as a guest dancer at the INTRODANS GALA. He is now creating a new solo for Introdans as part of the SP!R!T programme. The Dutch choreographer Didy Veldman is producing a new piece for the ensemble. The highly characteristic dance idiom of Nacho Duato is just perfect for SP!R!T. His Rassemblement set to music by Toto Bissainthe transports the audience to a world of slavery and passion.

" What are you looking for, Cisca? They talk about the Bread Polite. Why do you prefer to hang out in the street and feels like to taste all the food available there?

"Oops, excuse me. I am just wondering to myself, "What is the link between the habits of Indian men who like to eat in the street and to rape women?" (Women who I mean here are those who already have vaginas since they were born and those who do not make any changes in their genitals until they're raped.)

"What?"

Counting the Cost - Approaching 'peak oil'? The idea of 'peak oil' - or the point in time when maximum petroleum extraction has been reached - is an idea which has been around since the 1950s. These days though, the debate centres on whether oil has or has not yet reached its 'peak', given that we have extracted so much of it, and that reserves are declining. But as new extraction techniques evolve - things like fracking, tar sands, deep water drilling - do we really have fuel that could last for centuries?

Listening Post - Iraq: 'Disciplining' the media. In Iraq, tensions have again flared up in a new wave of deadly attacks against political and sectarian targets. Iraqi media, especially outlets that speak to the Sunni minority, called it a crisis out of the government's control. Then, when government forces loyal to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki killed 27 Sunni protesters, Iraq's private media erupted with rage. Anger on the privately-owned airwaves spelled trouble for the government and Maliki's response was to shut down 10 satellite TV stations -- including Al Jazeera's Arabic language channel -- for propagating an "undisciplined media message".

All but one of the channels are aligned with Sunni financial backers, and the government's move is being seen as a crackdown on dissent by Maliki's majority Shia government. In Iraq's factionalised media landscape, who you are largely determines who you listen to. So for Maliki, silencing Sunni TV was nothing less than removing a weapon from the hands of his rivals. For the Sunni minority, Maliki's move was just one more sign that their rights and interests are under attack.

This week's News Divide looks at both sides of the struggle. Speaking for the government is Ali Al-Shalah, the president of the Iraq Culture and Media Committee; assessing the government's actions are Dahr Jamail, a producer for Al Jazeera English, Arab media analyst Nehad Ismail and Ammar Shahbander from the Institute of War and Peace Reporting.

The incoming leader of the National Rifle Association, the largest gun lobby in the US, has told supporters they're at the front line of a 'culture war', fighting for the right to bear arms. The association's annual convention is in it's second day in the southern state of Texas. Al Jazeera's Rob Reynolds reports from Houston, where gun control advocates aren't giving up.

Everyone knows, he was the one who first gave the name of the western sky line with sun port. He said the sun would drown himself there with the happy people. The sun would spray a tinge of Red's Saga, like the color of hidden joy in each of his laugh heartily. And Papilionaceae (Faboideae), Pithecolobium ellipticum, Adenanthera microsperma, Abrus precatorius are the names that I think could explain the red of the Saga, but I feel they are less suitable.
