Has Capitalism Lost Its Compass? - Peter Lavelle APEC panel (ft. Jim Rogers) pt.1 and pt.2

Capitalism driven by the spirit of creativity would constantly defend itself from extinction. The metamorphosis of capitalism is actually located in the fullest freedom that always gives expression space to parse its way out. That was said by Hayek and Friedman.

In line with this, I think capitalism is not being collapsed due to the development and improvement through a process of humanization, so that the mutated capitalism can save itself from ruin and restored.

Its success to survive from the 1930s Great Depression after the correction of John Maynard Keynes. Evidently, Capitalism was able to get out of the crisis that plagued it. In its forecast, Keynes expressed the need for state intervention to save The Market Economic System.

Keynes correction against capitalism put him on the phase where the capitalism recognized the important role of the state to control the public interest. Furthermore, Kunio Yoshihara termed the marriage between capitalism and the state as the Ersatz, Pseudo capitalism. They were combined to form a new wave, its mouth was in the interests of their own group. In the end, Capitalism experienced deviations that only for the welfare of specific groups.

In its mechanism, Capitalism uses the free market system as a mode to run the system. Subject of the crisis stems from here, when the market fails to correct itself, because the Invisible Hand (which represent the capitalism spirit) turn into the  greedy, greedy, greedy, unethical and act on behalf of freedom for large profits. The basis of crisis that hit the capitalism regime is greediness and the spirit of free fight that left the competition rules.

In addition, according to Stiglitz (1994), the market failure occurs because of the symptoms referred to as Imperfect Information, that makes the market inefficient and biased. Imperfect information creates discrepancies, which open a gap for traders to act according to their self-interest and to pursue profit as possible. Usually the owners of big capital and the seller are the groups that have surplus of information, so that they are able to control the market and prices. From there they can search for maximum profit. Symptoms of Moral Hazard is the fruit of discrepancies.

That's a fact that caused the crisis come repeatedly, one after another, came surging. This is a situation that should be used as momentum to evaluate the application of the system of market economy. In fact, market capitalism often cause turmoil and miserable economic crisis. Seepage down (trickle down effect) as said by Adam Smith never materialized. What is happening is the rich get richer. OWS demo some time ago was a reaction to corporate greed, which led to only 1% of Americans who live extravagant, while 99% live far below the luxury.

In the end, the behavior and the market mechanism driven by the spirit of kinship can create an economic order that leads to prosperity and social justice. This means, the economic system is built not only by calculations of profit and loss, or left free without norms and ethics, or without the principle of humanity and concern for others, or built on mathematical assumptions which away from brotherhood's values, but it was laid out in order to achieve common prosperity. Therefore, the economic system must be able to hoist the enhancement of life, not oppress or make the rich get richer and negligent towards equitable development.
