Afghans vote amid threats of attacks

In the run-up to the parliamentary elections in Afghanistan Aljazeera has uncovered a massive racket in fake voting cards and ballot papers. To try to combat possible fraud, Afghans will have to dip their fingers in indelible ink once they've voted.

Adriaan Zef : Could it be held amid increasing insurgent acts of terror? We've seen how the similar efforts have failed in the past. They insisted on certain terms, peace and reconciliation are all foreign forces should leave Afghanistan.

Almira Izzati : Too bad. They should serve their homeland and come to use voting rights, for development and stability in Afghanistan.

CieL- FreYa Ceastle : This election become anticlimax, because it decreases the level of people participation. They fear for their safety. It proves the leadership of Karzai and the presence of US doesn't improve the situation in Afghanistan, both from social and security aspects.

Cisca Zarmansyah : Election Facts:
* 18 September: the parliamentary elections (Wolesi Jirga).
* Parliament has 429 seats. 68 seats reserved for women.
* There are 6835 polling booths, at least the electorate in 1019 was closed due to security can not be guaranteed.
* August 5th ago, a female candidate's campaign staff shot dead in Herat.
* Election-consuming fund 150 million dollars, largely financed by foreign aid.

Cisca Zarmansyah : World politics in Afghanistan is very cruel towards women political rights, ...http://www.warlordsofafghanistan.com/, ...Do you know what's hard for them? They discuss about Taliban, about the Warlord and security is getting worse. But on the other hand, they lose their children because their husbands chose to stay with his second wife in another city, for example in Dubai

The King of Afghanistan was crowned in 1933 and lasted 40 years. Despite decades of intermittent attempts to modernize it, the national government remained weak and backward.

Almira Izzati : Do we have to be a mother so our appraisal turns to compassion?

Cisca Zarmansyah : I don't think so.

Almira Izzati : So, what do you think?

Cisca Zarmansyah : I think my mother always loves me ...

Fairuz Azalia : God has saved your life, baby

Valentino Vie
How do I respond when I see that in some Islamic countries there is vitriolic hatred for America? I'll tell you how I respond, " I'm amazed. I'm amazed that there is such misunderstanding of what our country is about, that people would hate us. I am, I am -- like most Americans, I just can't believe it. Because I know how good we are, and we've go to do a better job of making our case. We've got to do a better job of explaining to the people in the Middle East, for example, that we don't fight a war against Islam or Muslims. We don't hold any religion accountable. We're fighting evil. And these murderers have hijacked a great religion in order to justify their evil deeds. And we cannot let it stand." (GEORGE W. BUSH - press conference)

You and Adriaan Zef like this.
Adriaan Zef : The attacks of Sept 11, 2001, succeeded far beyond anything Osama bin Laden could have possibly envisioned. Not because they killed nearly 3,000 Americans, but because they provoked an excessive, crippling reaction from the US. Had George Bush stopped after his eminently appropriate initial attack on Afghanistan, we could have avoided this. But instead he convinced himself of a non-existent threat from Iraq, and launched a painful war. Bin Laden understands this all perfectly.

Valentino Vie : Has he played good enough on a stage of life's drama? haha

Almira Izzati : I don't like the patriotic forces of this man. It's too far-fetched!

Cisca Zarmansyah : Islamaphobes are the worst type of people.

Egypt plans to open the ancient port city of Leukaspis later this month. 2,000 years ago, this was a thriving Greco-Roman port city, villas of merchants grown rich on the wheat and olive trade. Today, it's a sprawl of luxury vacation homes where Egypt's wealthy bask on the white beaches of the Mediterranean coast.
