News Headlines (56) 30 October 2012

Barely a week before the presidential election, about 50 million Americans have to face the threat of hurricanes Sandy, touted as the biggest storm that hit the United States throughout its history.

With a speed of 165 kilometers per hour, Sandy storm is predicted to have an impact on the area along 1300 kilometer which includes North Carolina to Connecticut. Thus, the storm may hit Boston, Baltimore, Washington DC, and Philadelphia.

"We are facing a storm that could affect 50 million to 60 million people," said Louis Uccellini, Director of  National Weather Service, NCEP.

According to Jeff Masters, hurricane expert who runs the Weather Underground, Sandy storm can be called as the Super Historic Storm. "This storm could be bigger than the Long Island Express, a storm that hit the New England area, killing 800 people in 1938," he said.

Sandy storm is unusual storm moving from Caribbean region to the north by the end of summer. However, high-pressure air from the Greenland blocking this storm towards the sea and shifted to the mainland. At the same time, the winter winds blowing from the west and the winds of the Arctic blowing from the north. "What makes this storm is so dangerous and unusual is this storm emerged in the late summer and early winter storm. So, this is a mixture of both, "said Masters.

Coupled with a full moon causing a tidal wave, Sandy storm has now become the hybrid storm which is predicted to create as high as 30 inches of rainfall, snowfall as high as 60 centimeters and 2.4 meters high waves.

"Three storms happen all at once is very rare, so we can not predict which areas are most severely affected," kara Rick Knabb, director of the National Hurricane Center in Miami-Florida.

In anticipation of the storm, governor of North Carolina to Connecticut declared a state of emergency. Governor of Delaware ordered a mandatory evacuation for residents who live in coastal areas.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo also ordered the authorities to prepare to stop transport service subways, trains and public buses. Yesterday, Amtrak rail company cancelled a journey to East Coast, including Washington DC and New York. Then various airlines began to move their planes from a number of airports on the East Coast.

In Virginia, about 500 soldiers have been alert to clear the debris and open the highway. Local power company warned its citizens to face the possibility of power outages over the coming days, since the storm can damage the power lines.

As a result, the U.S. East Coast residents thronged the shops to buy a generator supplies, candles, food, and drinks as a precaution. "The people begin to panic. I sell 4,5,6 battery sets to one person, "said Joe Dautel a shopkeeper in Glenside Pennsylvania.

So far, the storm Sandy has claimed 59 lives as it crosses the Caribbean Islands.

I sit and wonder why-yi-yi-yi oh why you left me, oh Sandy... ♫♪
A few hours ago my beloved fiance's humming it in the shower, ... Shh... ehehhe .... not that song, dahliing. Forgive us, O Lord. You know my fiance is very unique. Sometimes he appeared as if he was a Superman, but a few hours he was exactly like a baby, yi-yi-yi a kind of super baby who could not stop hugging me for over an hour. He did not say his fears, he just asked what was I feeling, what could I see from all of this situation.
I told him that I saw the desert and the sea. But I did not see something very terrible **). I just felt the hot desert wind blowing over the ocean. Just that. That's it. Then It went away without the knowledge or permission of the most intelligent people. A moment later I felt very hungry, but I did not want to eat anything. After that I felt everything was back to normal. (I felt I wanted to cry when I saw -- every time I felt --  the spirit of some good American people.)

"Honey, are we going to die today?" he asked in a very soft voice. The most honest question of the most honest feeling in such situation: being gripped. (Then I started to think that the best lover of each of us was the mortality. You even did not wait for your date with a pounding feeling like this. If I was wrong, so, for what we were silent and waiting here? What are you waiting here at this time?)

I looked into his eyes with deep feeling. (Oh Blue Eyes, Blue Eyes, from whence you came? Blue Sea Oh Blue Sea, where are you going? Blue Sky, Blue Sky, Oh where are you now, Oh? Blue Sky and Blue Sea, do you both know how much I love his blue eyes?)
Blue Sky, Blue Sea and Blue Eyes did not answer me, nor me. No need a word. I just hugged him with a very secure feeling, realizing that the safest place for our baby at the time was my womb. Vaguely, I heard my heart began to hum with a sense of gratitude that came in between this fear, hope, and faith : all this fear coming to an end.)
I hoped I was given a sharp hearing as sharp as the silence.
***
**)What I meant by something very terrible was -- for example-- such as the victims of tsunami 2004 or Japan's tsunami 2011 or the 911 victims or the victims in Palestine 2008 / Gaza war, or the drone victims in Pakistan, Arab Spring's victims 2011, Libya and others, and so on.

Romney on economy: Obama 'made the problem worse' - By DAVID ESPO and STEVE PEOPLES | Associated Press

It has been four years Americans go bankrupt. America - let's see - no longer afford and control the world. Now the richest country in the world to be the most debt-laden country in the world. Super power that once used to lend to other nations will be ready to sink with a debt of approximately $ 14 trillion and threatened with the unpaid debts.

If we look at the past, when Bill Clinton left the White House and continued by George Bush in 2000 there was a surplus of $ 300 billion. When Bush allocated a large amount of spending on the military, especially after the 9/11, the surplus turned into a deficit.  In the first two years, a surplus of $ 300 billion had been spent. In the next two years rose to 600 billion dollars. In the next two years, the debt had ballooned to $ 900 billion. In 2009, even reaching $ 1.2 trillion. Today, nearly $ 1.7 trillion, it is unprecedented in American history.

These conditions forced Americans to borrow more money and change their economic policy. The U.S. uncontrollably owes in large numbers from Japan, China, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries. In the first period of the Bush presidency, the debt reached $ 7.6 trillion. But in his second reign, debt rose to $ 10.6 trillion. Today is reached at $ 14.2 trillion. More than half of this debt occurred in the last six years, when the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan has reached its peak. If we spread the amount of American people's debt, then every American has arrears approximately $ 45,300.

Local analysts say, America must spend $ 1.3 trillion more of their income in the current year. Because the budget deficit increased by $ 400 million per day, then it can be imagined how its daily's debt circulation. This means America has to borrow 40 cents of every dollar spent. On January 15, 2012, U.S. Treasury secretary said this has never happened before in  the U.S. history. Ironically, the two major parties in the country blame the crisis. Congress was forced to remove the legal restrictions on the debt to the government to borrow more money, or cut spending in large quantities.

But no matter what steps are taken, there will be no difference. In war era, the debts usually are increasing, but never as bad as Bush period.

The problem is the interest of $ 6 trillion dollars will be added to $ 14 trillion worth of debt. Actual interest is $ 9 hundred million but for some reason it becomes up to the $ 600 million, and this is because of ::

* The government can not pay it back, so the interest will proliferate.
* Lenders (states, companies, banks, individuals etc.) raise the interest rates.
* The government has lost credibility with creditors and enforce the rules made by themselves.
* The government continues to issue military spending and the budget sector in a high level. Therefore both the Iraq and Afghanistan were backed by loans.

Pentagon budget for the year 2011 reached $ 717 million. An additional amount of $ 200 billion was allocated to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq with the label "War on Terror."

The Soviet Union is dead now. Warsaw Pact is buried. The war in Afghanistan and Iraq has left behind three main questions unsolved:

1. If Bush is not a president, will Americans have lost so much?
2. If Bush is not a president, will America not be in this bad debt?
3. Is American not so severe crisis if the country is not in the circle?

All the answers can be very negative. Afghanistan and Iraq wars affect the stock market. Companies are broken and bankrupt. In 2007-2008, a major regional crisis began. This leads to deficits that affect the financial and commercial real estate sectors. The economics is melted, and the debt grows. The dollar is printed without any support, shrinking the value and increase the inflation and fiscal deficits.

Large companies experiencing peak of the crisis, forcing the government to save them from bankruptcy by giving them billions of dollars. All of these chain America and it seems difficult to be removed.

The former Soviet Union would not admit that the war in Afghanistan has drowned them. By the same token, The U.S. is not ready to accept the bitter reality that the main cause behind the crisis is the war in Afghanistan.

How and when Americans can alleviate their $ 14.2 trillion? The answer is still ambiguous. Is this a storm just like the strong waves of the Red Sea that had swallowed Pharaoh and will swallow it forever?
