This Week's News in Brief

U.S.A

THANKSGIVING DAY

The only complaint from me is it feels a bit bland. Maybe I should try brining.

Ingredients
One 12-ish pound turkey
Stuffing, if desired
1/4 c. olive oil
Salt and pepper
1 onion, roughly chopped
1-2 carrots (peeling optional), roughly chopped
1 rib celery, roughly chopped (can use leaves, too)
1 bunch parsley (optional), tied together

Directions
1. Pre-heat the oven to 500 degrees. Yes, all the way up. Remove giblets and neck from turkey cavity; remove clip holding legs together, if necessary. Spoon stuffing (if using) into cavity; tie legs together. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

2. Place vegetables into large roasting pan.

Put the turkey on top. Add 1/2 c. water, stock, or apple cider to pan.

Put meat thermometer into thigh. Put turkey into the oven, legs first.

3. Roast for 20-30 minutes, until the breast begins to brown; turn the heat down to 350. Baste every 30 minutes or so; if top looks too brown, cover with heavy duty foil. If the bottom dries out, add 1/2 c. water. Roast for an additional 2 hours or so, checking the temperature when you baste.

4. When the thigh reaches 160, remove from oven; turkey will continue to rise in temperature. Check thigh in several places to make sure that it has reached 160 with an instant-read thermometer. Also check the stuffing with an instant-read thermometer; if it has not reached 160 degrees, scoop it into an oven-proof dish and bake while turkey is resting.

5. Remove turkey to cutting board; tent with foil and let rest for at least 20 minutes While turkey is resting (at least 20 minutes), make gravy using pan juices, flour, salt and pepper, thyme, and milk or stock.
*****

Humbly I also provide a turkey sandwich. No serious recipes, really. Only cold turkey in thick slices on the bread homemade.

This is including his favorite food. Chocolate chip pancakes.

Ingredients
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 t baking powder
1/4 t salt
1-2 t sugar (depending on how sweet you like your pancakes)
1 egg
3/4 c. milk
1 T butter, melted
1/2 c. or more semisweet chocolate chips

Directions
1. Heat your griddle or LARGE skillet over medium-low heat.
2. Mix together dry ingredients (except for chocolate chips); in separate bowl or measuring cup, mix together wet ingredients. Gently stir wet ingredient mixture into dry ingredients. If there's a few lumps, that's ok.
3. Add a little butter to the griddle; using a small ladle or dry measuring cup, spoon batter onto griddle in equal-sized pours. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top.

4. When pancakes are dry around the edges and bubbly in the middle, flip them and cook until other side is golden brown.

Use a large one and make a bunch of pancakes at a time. Keep the pancakes warm in on a plate in a 200 degree oven, covered with a clean kitchen towl, until they're all done and ready to serve. Serve immediately. Makes 2 servings.

These are only the pictures of fruits. To eat the real fruit I have to buy it on the market or plant the seeds until it will grow into a tree in the garden. How long should I wait for the tree to bear fruit? If I want to eat the fruit from the tree in my own garden, then I have to wait for years for it to bear the fruit. If I want to eat it now, n-o-w- there is no more practical action than buying it in the market, or ask friends/neighbors who may have the same tree and has been fruitful. Well, just eat it. On other days they are also always fresh, in a limited time, although it's not a day of thanksgiving.
*****

Aha ... then he also said, "Honey, please do not cook the Mexican dishes for us, it can make us suffer from intestinal worms."

"... ..What? intestinal worms?"... (See? Sometimes he also likes slurred speech...)

Thanks to you dahling, who is patiently and faithfully accompany me until now in very deep sense of understanding. And the most special thing is thank you for working hard every time we have the time to crown me as the perfect woman to be a mother. I can't wait to pick the fruits of our love's tree.

Then we stop to eat before we are satisfied, with our hands still outstretch to those who probably can't eat today because there's nothing can be eaten.

Noting the people lining up at Hatsuuri (and shoppers at Christmas, Valentine's Day, White Day, etc) I was thinking that consumerism has always found many ways to get into the cultural framework, without being able to be avoided. Maybe I'm right, not in Japan, not in America, consumerism is spreading everywhere ... hahaa

Free Syrian Army soldier: "We lack weapons" | The Observers

After the Russian warship entered the Syria's waters, Russia would be arming Syria with missiles S-300 to survive the West's attack. Although Russia also acted decisively to Syria, but the Russian military supported to Syria to be wary of attack from NATO, United States, and the European Union. Similarly, as reported by Al-Quds Al-Arabi, Friday (25 Nov 2011.)

In addition to S-300 missiles, Russia also made radar installation in the Syrian military and industrial facilities. Radar will detect all kinds of activities that exist in the northern and southern Syria. Radar is able to detect the movements of enemy aircraft or troops who approach the border of Turkey and Syria.

S-300 missile is one of the missile with advanced technology for air defense. The missile is also no need to undergo a complex treatment. Both the military instrument is considered to be the right partner for Syria's arsenal.

Earlier, Russia intended to sell the missiles to Iran, but it had to be postponed because of pressure from the U.S. and Israel. Nevertheless, the news has spread that Iran will acquire the missiles from Syria.

Currently the European Union also appears to have started aggressively against Syria. France has even proposed a humanitarian intervention to protect civilians in Syria. As we have often seen, there is no difference between the humanitarian intervention and war.

Russia said, some other countries were trying to aggravate the situation in Syria. This is a way for Syrian intervention can be justified.

French newspaper "Le Canard Enchaine" reported, a group of French intelligence agent was in Lebanon and Turkey to form the first group of Syrian army Free and train the Syrian army deserter, according to reports weekly edition, Wednesday (23 Novembre).

The French troops were sent to northern Lebanon and Turkey to form the first group of Free Syrian Army, in addition to train the refugees from Syria, according to the weekly newspaper as reported by AlYoum7, Thursday (24 Novembre).

The newspaper added that a number of army personnel from the Directorate General of Intelligence and special operations leaders in Turkey was ready to receive the order to train those who fled from war in a number of Syrian cities.

"Some people who are members of Syrian opposition groups supported by the outside party announce the dialogue will take place only when the Syrian regime has gone," said the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, quoted by Press TV on Friday (11/18/2011). "Russia does not want to see the Syria will be the same as Libya, "he added.

Lavrov also urged the opposition not to boycott the Syrian reform plan devised by President Bashar al-Assad. Russia also strongly rejected the addition of sanctions to Syria. At the UN Security Council meeting, Russia also vetoed the UNSC's resolution draft against Syria.

He also warned, if the opposition remained with rebellion, they brought Syria into a large-scale civil war.

Historically, Russia appeared as a party that does not support the West against the Syrian case. Russia wants a peaceful way to end the Syrian crisis. Russia also still believes with President Assad who wants to reform.

RUSSIA - U.S.A

http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/11/23/russia-address-concerns-or-well-target-missile-shield/?hpt=hp_t3

Russia: Address concerns or we'll target missile shield
Russia may deploy missiles that it says could destroy NATO’s planned missile defense system in Europe -- and withdraw from an arms control treaty with the United States -- if Russia’s concerns about the shield aren’t addressed, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Wednesday.

Russia threatened to deploy their missiles against the U.S. missile shield in Europe if Washington failed to address Moscow's concerns about the threat of U.S. defense systems that led to Russia's nuclear power.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said his party hoped to negotiate the issue with the United States. On the other hand, he accused the U.S. and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to ignore the concerns of Russia.

Medvedev added that the Kremlin would take military action if the U.S. continued to build a missile shield without legal guarantees that the defense system would not be directed to Russia.

In response thereto, The U.S. has repeatedly ensured that its missile defense system didn't target Russia. "It should be emphasized that the missile defense system in Europe has been built together with our allies and Russia over the past few years, and it is not directed against Russia," said Pentagon spokesman, Captain John Kirby. "Missile defense is designed to prevent and deter the threat of ballistic missiles on Europe and our allies from Iranian attack."

Elsewhere, the White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said the U.S. would continue to cooperate with Russia. However, he added, it must be realized that the missile defense system built in Europe would not be used to threaten the strategic facilities in Russia.

The statement was taken cold by Medvedev. According to him, Moscow was not satisfied if the problem was limited to the declaration. Moscow insisted that the problem should be stated in a binding agreement. "When we suggest the need for an agreement on paper in the form of specific duties and clear law, we hear a strong resistance, "said Medvedev. (My goodness, Rusia's coldness was impressed very sexy in my mind, really. Just like when my partner asked for further explanation of a problem --that became a problem for him, but not for me-- why did I put the photo of the Eiffel tower in our bedroom dresser. He never knew, if he's sulking because he did not believe me, he looked very sexy, because it meant he was preparing another attack that might not be forgotten by me. And frankly, I am happy to make any trouble with him.. ehehheheee ...dahliiing, I just want make sure that you are a strong man, and I always admire you secretly...mwah! )

Medvedev warned, Russia would put the station missiles in Kaliningrad region of West and other areas if the U.S. did not give a guarantee that their missile defense system was not directed against Russia's nuclear fleet.((And oddly, I was annoyed when he treated the same thing to me, such as he put the Kim Kardasian's photo in our bathroom, for example. ... Sim salabim ...Abrakadabra! Kim Kalabim Abrakasabra, Kim Kim Kim... mmm...Kim Kalabim! Kim Kim Kim... Geez I can't spell her to be a frog!... )

In Brussels, Belgium, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said he was disappointed with the Russian's threat that would put their missiles near NATO allied countries. "This will remind us of the past and this is inconsistent with the strategic relationship between NATO and Russia, "said Rasmusen. (So, what do you want dahling, hmm? ... Indeed, that's my weakness. I am deliberately asking for trouble by putting that photo on our buffet, but then I actually ask him what exactly he wants. Olalaaa... I have clung to him without a rope. I do not know whether I must hate him or love him even more. This relationship is very enjoyable... )

Libya ex-rebels get key posts in cabinet
Libya ex-rebels get key posts in cabinet

Abdurrahim el-Keib

Some Libya's tribes on Wednesday (11/23/2011) were stating they would not recognize the government after the announcement of the new cabinet. This is reopened the competition between areas, which would threaten the country's peace.

Prime Minister Abdul Rahim al-kib announced the cabinet, which aimed to calm the overlap between the Libyan tribes, regional interests and ideological camps, which competed to fill the vacuum after the fall of Moammar Gaddafi's regime.

There has been no direct impact of differences in opinion on the cabinet of the most powerful interests, especially the Islamic groups, who were not given a lot of places in government, while other smaller groups complain have been ignored.

To announce the government was the latest step in the stagnation of progress toward the development of new institutions, three months after the bloody revolt of the "Arab Awakening" to end 42 years of Gaddafi's reign.

About 150 people rallied on Wednesday morning outside the hotel in Benghazi, eastern Libya, where NTC is located. They held the banner "No to the outsider", said the witness.

The rally was conducted by Awagi and Maghariba tribe, based in Benghazi because their representatives were not given the key positions. A group which called themselves as the Libyan Amazigh Congress proclaimed on the cessation of all relations with the NTC for the government's formation.

Amazigh or Berber is a small tribe, which suffered persecution under Gaddafi's rule. They urged a greater recognition of the language and culture in new Libya. "Temporary freeze will last until the NTC approve the Amazigh demands," the group said.

The NTC's choice to fill the ministerial posts seems to prefer the territory alliance than the experience or track record. The diplomats estimate the position of foreign minister will be held by the Libyan's representative to the United Nations, Ibrahim Dabbashi, but the position was given to Ashour Bin Hayal, a lesser known diplomat from Derna, a city in the eastern region which has been long time to oppose Gaddafi.

Ali Abdussalam Tarhouni, an intellectual who lived in the United States, who returned from the exile to manage the petroleum and finance in the rebellion against Gaddafi have no role in new government, even though he is seen as a trusted partner of Western diplomats.

Hassan Ziglam, the oil industry executive, becomes the finance minister, and Abdulrahman Ben Yezza, a former executive of Italian oil company ENI becomes the oil minister.

The composition of the cabinet appears to be a setback for the Islamists, who in recent months emerged as a great power and eyeing the post of defense minister. The position was given to Osama Juwali, commander of the military council in the town of Zintan, western Libya. He demanded that position at the last moment after the troops under his command captured Saif al-Islam in last weekend.

Ghalisha Abu Ahmed, representative of Juwali in Zintan military council, said the new defense minister would focus on securing the weapon, which flooded Libya after the crisis to impose Gaddafy. The spread of weapons triggered the concern about the violence between the rival groups in Libya, as well as the weapons and anti-aircraft missiles could fall into the hands of Al Qaeda in north Africa. "The biggest problem now is the spread of weapons. In the desert, a weapon can walk easily," said Ghalisha.

Report: Dozens of U.S. spies captured in Lebanon and Iran
Current and former U.S. officials concede that CIA suffered difficult blow; sources say Lebanon informants were compromised by meeting CIA agents at a Beirut Pizza Hut.

A number of former U.S. intelligence officials say it's the result of a lack of professionalism in the body of U.S. intelligence. "We've lost the tradition of espionage. The officials take a shortcut and irresponsible," said the former official who remains a consultant to U.S. intelligence.

However, the CIA officials argued that it was a risk of the intelligence world. "Hezbollah is a very complicated enemy. The group is declared as a terrorist group, player in politics, the military is powerful, and has great intelligence operations and merciless. No one can underestimate their abilities, "the U.S. official said.

Robert Baer who recently regarded as an expert on Hezbollah have another opinion. "If you lose an asset, one source, it is normal in espionage," he said. "But, if you lose your entire network, both in Tehran and in Beirut, that's a disaster. Therefore, it should not happen. And, it can only happen when you mishandle a source," said Baer.

According to Robert Baer, a former senior CIA official who had been assigned to investigate Hezbollah while stationed in Beirut in the 1980s, Hezbollah usually executed the people who were suspected or caught a spy. "If they are really the spies, a spy on Hezbollah, I do not think we'll see them again. They (Hezbollah) will not forgive them," said Baer. (Hasta La Vista!)

Iran may have sent Libya chemical weapon shells: report
AFP - The United States is investigating whether Iran sent hundreds of special artillery shells for chemical weapons to the late Moamer Kadhafi regime in Libya, The Washington Post reported late Sunday.

http.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/iran-may-have-sent-libya-shells-for-chemical-weapons/2011/11/18/gIQA7RPifN_story.html

Iran may have sent Libya shells for chemical weapons
The Obama administration is investigating whether Iran supplied Moammar Gaddafi's government hundreds of special artillery shells for chemical weapons that Libya kept secret for decades, U.S. officials said.

These latest allegation was denied by Mohammed Javad Larijani, one of Iran's supreme leader adviser. "I believe these allegations are deliberately fabricated by the U.S. to complement their Iranofobia projects in the region and around the world. It is clear, this is another story-fetched to worsen the image of the Islamic Republic of Iran," Larijani said.

Components of chemical weapons were allegedly sold by Iran to Libya after the Iran-Iraq War in the decade of the 1980s. In that war, Iraq has preceded the use of chemical weapons against Iranian forces. Iran then was allegedly joined to develop the chemical weapons with mustard gas-based to reply to Iraq.

Iran had just ratified the Chemical Weapons Convention in 1997 and followed by Libya in 2004.

Allegation of a country have or develop weapons of mass destruction is reminiscent of the U.S. charges against Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq, which became the main reason the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003.

F I C T I T I O U S

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz, or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off. I love you as certain dark things are to be loved, in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms, but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers. Thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance, risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride. So I love you because I know no other way.

Than this: where I do not exist, nor you, so close that your hand on my chest is my hand, so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep...

(PABLO NERUDA)

I
nothing is really expelled in all our conversations
also memories for years that insist to be forgotten
night-light mercury lamps along the highway
its light like a memories carnival
crowded in our heads

age, prayer and the whole feeling of the most futile
they meet each other, exchanging places and jumping up and down
then each one of them plunging into the flames of a campfire
which are created from the treacherous spark
littering the pages of a history of convictions

until the whole is burned, we are not being understood
who exactly is
the figure who secretly set the memories in each conversation
having every moment to be a melancholia flower
that does not also fall before the doors of age are buried perfectly

the calendar sends the event and new conversation
the separation pulls down the meeting
the meeting prepares the farewell
and so on
while a memories carnival is still ongoing
to complement the tricks of fate which is shaking so slowly

II
I purposely did not turn on the lights when the night came in a hurry
the dark room was always reminded me of sadness
which was wetting your neck

I wrote the old city's shadow in a perfect darkness
equipped it with nothing and the memory of a pair of eyes
that threatened my pulse every time the rain fell in the afternoon

twelve hours. Darkroom. And the lights are not turned on.
shadow of the old city that had been written
has changed to an anxiety building that buries my age,
as well as to plant my self in a frozen silence.

III
I created a room from the night on fire
I laid in it while remembering you
with half of my head hurts
a shadow stood up straight on the dim wall
above it I wrote all that has passed
the brief conversation, the short messages, the books
also a totally unplanned meeting

in a room that was created from the burning night
you decided to stay away
it was like most of luck

never mind, stay away from me
because the distance will teach us how to be a sincere lover
nurture a loyalty in the wilderness of the gray world

because of the distance will ripen the longing.

because the meeting and talks excessively
will lead us to feeling flat
lead us toward an overly passionate desire
then it quickly turns to ashes.

time is a river that flows in my spirit to deliver the crumb of age,
also the fate which is hard to be read
there I wash away the memories: your eyes which are always blue
the flexural vibration of your voice and your body's panorama beyond the prayers sanctity

as well as the souls who later return to the upstream light
I will return to you not as a woman
not as a stubborn lover
but as a poem whic is peeled of the words
back to you as an empty space
which is willing to receive and to release
